add itis to anything and it becomes a malady:sick:, add ectomy to anything and it becomes a procedure:scared:, add ologist to anything and it becomes a specialist. Many of us have Orlandoitis:sick:, we need a reality-ectomy:scared: so that we can go back to Orlando and become Disneyologists.:smickey:

Hilarious...

We are down to 84 hours till lift off. Quick question; the forecast is showing rain possible for Sunday. With help from my new BFF Maroo (Hey, bff Maroo ) our schedule is currently as follows:

Friday, Travel Day --Maybe squeezing in Sea World if we get our packets in time from GKTW

Saturday, Animal Kingdom/Epcot

Sunday, Beach Day at St. Petes

Monday, Magic Kingdom

Tuesday, Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure

Wednesday, Hollywood Studios

Thursday, Travel Day -- we leave too early to do anything. (Have to be at the airport by 11:00 am )

My question: If it rains on Sunday, could any of the parks be done in the rain? The rest of the week looks great.

Thanks for your help,

Tammy B

:wave2: Hello!!! :)

Rain park...Well, any of them can be done in the rain, really...I am trying to think of the best one.

I am thinking DHS...because there are several shows there that would be out of the rain. ToT, RnR, the shows, etc...are out of the rain. I can't really think of that much that is in the rain, really. And that park is relatively small. :confused3 But none of them are that fun in the rain, really.

I don't know if you can get tickets from GKTW, but there is that play place at DTD...that has several floors of games...all indoors...if you wanted to do something different. :confused3 But not sure how much it costs... (Does anyone know?!?)

Or you could pick the one that you like the least...and just make it a short day.

But you definitely want to do the beach in the sunshine! lol

You guys are going to have a BLAST!!!! :)

EDIT: I am adding this.... I looked at the National Weather Service...they show only a 20% chance of showers. The other days are sunny! I wouldn't change anything just for the 20%...you can PM me closer to...or even call me (I will give you my cell phone number) if you want the most updated weather report. I am a weather freak and we have a serious severe weather event coming in a few days, so I will be paying attention...if you want me to look for you.

The only source I trust is the National Weather Service.... www.weather.GOV ... not www.weather.com ....

:)

Disney Quest is a lot of fun. I want to say it's around $30? Not positive because it comes as part of the "water parks and more" option when you get a package.

We had a LOT of rain when we went in August. Epcot was a good park in the rain because there's a lot to see inside each country. Not too exciting for kids though ;)

Is it going to RAIN or just rain? Most times in Disney it's a 10 - 15 minute shower. Then again, what do I know? In August it rained and rained and rained (we were there for that tropical storm that just SAT over WDW for days on end )

Were you there for Fay? Or another one? I am obsessed with Hurricanes ever since Katrina :headache: - which was awful here! - and I watch those storms like a hawk!!! Even more obsessed than Disney. :headache:

It rained quite a bit on our trip. We took ponchos and even bought a couple extra while we were there. Even Pal Mickey rated a raincoat outfit!!
Most of it was Showers. Even when it rained all day, there were breaks in the weather. it didn't stop us. Only one time it was quite a storm and people were running for cover did it stop us from moving. We just took a much needed break and got some ice cream. The boys never realized what was going on.
Oh and once at AK it started getting pretty bad and we were headed to the FOTLK. The line was pretty long and people started huddling together. The wind was pretty strong and rain was going EVERYWHERE. So here we were with Braeton in his chair and trying to keep a poncho on him and one kind of draped over him and seat of the chair and people on the other side of the divider leaned over and started holding their extra ponchos over him. One man even took his off and his wife took hers off and they draped one over both their heads and was holding the extra poncho over him. It was really sweet. One of those only at Disney magical moments!!

I know what you meant. After Katrina we had a lot of Evacuees in our area and i would go to one of the Shelters about 45 min away to help.
Then here comes Rita and I had to evacuate! And then YIKES here comes IKE!!!!:sad2:
We've had more remodeling to our homes in the last few years in my family than we've had in my lifetime!!
I find myself checking the weather A LOT!!!

Yep! You know exactly how all that felt!!! And still feels, sometimes. We had a tornado here a year ago next month that messed everything up again. We still have tarps on homes...:sad2: I feel like it is permanent now. But at least we have homes.

Oh I hope it does not rain next week...:sad2: I saw Sat was going to be 85, of course we do not touch down in Orlando until 3pm...so we will get the tail end of that nice weather. I heard it has not rained down there in like 5 months, and they are in a drought??? So NOW it is going to rain...:guilty::guilty:

It was 29 here today in Ma....I am in need of some warm weather BAD...Sunny warm weather would be perfect!!! Fingers crossed.

I also just added pictures of Jake's Send Off Party on his thread. If anyone wants to go check them out....:banana::banana:

Hey Tammy....84 hours until lift off (and that was a while ago)...:woohoo: Have a great time! I called GKTW before we went and told them we would be in early and asked if we could get our ticket packet prior to orientation. They said they could work something out, but really wanted us to go through the orientation first. They were willing though. You might want to call ahead. We ended up altering our arrival time because of some other sight seeing. We missed SeaWorld and I really regret that.

Disney Quest was the park that Maroo was talking about. We had thought about going there as well (video game fans in my house). It is a kind of virtual reality park. When we were there two years ago, it was going to cost our family of 7 just under $300 to do one day there. We just didn't have the time to fit it in. I just looked at the web site. Disney Quest, on its own and not part of Water Parks and More, for ages 10 and up, is $40 for a day, and for ages 3-9 it is $34. Downtown Disney would be a good rainy day alternative...eating places, shopping (lego store is cool.)

We had a couple of gully washer rainy days when we were there. I went to the camping section of Wal-mart before we left and purchased these $1.00 rain ponchos. They are about the size of a travel packet of klennex and easy to pack up. They are thin plastic, but do a decent job. They are basically a large trashbag with a hood and arm holes. We did Universal and Epcot in the rain. Not the most fun way to do it, but it is doable. Disney sells panchos (more costly...$25-30) as does the Wal-mart by GKTW (not as much $, I think $5-10) that are heavier plastic and large enough that they can drape over the strollers. The Wal-mart by GKTW has Disney themed merchandise, and when we were there, they had mickey and tink panchos. The problem is that they are cumbersome after they are wet. We needed one because my husband was in an ECV and the motors can't get wet. The basket on the front of the ECV became the permanent resting place for the pancho.

Hope this helps. Have an Awesome Trip!!!

Mother Nature...she can be a handful sometimes. (As my birthday is approaching in the next few weeks I am not so crazy about Father Time either. ;)) I grew up in Gulf Coast Texas (hurricanes), moved to the midwest ... nasty blizzard a year later, so with my mom's urging, my Dad transferred to CA. We lived in the Mojave, earthquakes and blistering heat...yee ha.... then moved out on my own...and went East ....more blizzards.... then back to the south....tornados where I am. Lordy...none of them are fun. Katrina motivated me to scan in all my photographs and send them to family members in other parts of the country...just in case. The only "thing" that can't be replaced are pictures...

That is such a GREAT idea! I have uploaded my digital pics to Photobucket and may even pay to be a premium member to make sure that they never go away.

We went through a lot of houses and finding those picture albums was one of the treasures. One day we found - in a BUNCH of MUCK - an older ladies diamond ring. :thumbsup2 That was quite a find, too!! But that was more inland...the coast houses lost everything. My friend did find a fork from her nice silver set...but that was all that was left from her house. And they have not rebuilt yet...waiting on insurance money. :scared1: From 05?!? Good grief.

On a more positive note! They say that the weather next week in Orlando is going to be nice. All I can find is a small chance of showers...so good chance it won't rain at all!! :)

They did mention that they have some brush fires going down there and could use some rain. And if you have an allergy to smoke, make sure you are prepared for that with inhalers or whatever you might need.

You guys are going to have a GREAT time!!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I have uploaded all of my photos from the past 9 years to Shutteryfly and they do not currently charge to store them. Some of my Disney trips have over 1,000 pictures per trip. They are my favorite storing and printing site! Just my 2 cents! :wizard:

Uh oh!

I think I implied that Photobucket charges :rolleyes1...they don't unless you are some kind of premium member. I have uploaded so many this month that I almost hit my limit of transfers...and I was tempted to upgrade to be able to continue to upload. Not sure if that makes sense.

I have never used Shutterfly...I will have to check that one out! :thumbsup2

It was Fay. We would chant "FAY GO AWAY!"

I blame myself for all that rain. I had made the girls a book for their birthdays that told them they were going to Disney World. One page read "where we're happy even if it rains" :rotfl: Famous last words!

A quick question on the photopass. I remember someone saying that you can buy the photopass for $100.00, but my question is this. Are you limited to how many pictures you can put on it, plus is the $100.00 the cost and printing of all the photos on that pass?

If so, do I still have time to buy one?

The photopass...if you get it before you upload the pictures (or before you go), is around $100. For that you get as many pictures as you want and they send you the disc...but then you have to get them printed yourself at the store of your choice. But they send you something saying that you have the copyright rights to it...

Photopass CD is $99.95 (ish) and it includes ALL your photos. You can crop, add dates, Mickey's signature, etc to the photos and they'll put everything on the CD - and if doesn't fit on one CD they'll give you TWO (or ten)!

Plus they give you a waiver so you can print the pics wherever you want. I had some printed a Walgreens :)

they don't include the printing of the pics but if there are 4-6 good ones in the bunch it's worth it because Disney's printing prices can be pricey.

You can pre-order the CD today and they'll email you the code for it. Nothing is sent until you get home, enter all your photopass #'s in it and then manipulate. Once you're ready, you order the CD and it takes a few weeks to arrive.

BE SURE to tell every photopass photographer that you have prepaid for the CD. We got many more shots because of that. Not to mention the MAW button - you're good for 300 pics minimum!!!
