I have a quick question...are the Disney passes from GKTW single day or park hopper? (I'm trying to figure out how many passes we'll need for my mom)

oh, and have a great trip Liam!!

I am sitting in the Orlando Airport:sad2:. So the answer to your question is the tickets to Disney or a three day hopper pass. One day we ate breakfast at MK then hopped over to Epcot and then to DHS.

Have a great trip!!!! It is Awesome!!!!

As of tomarrow morning we only have two days left until Liam's wonderful wish trip. :scared1:I must admite that I am completly franticed right now that I am going to forget something. Any last minute advice for us first time Walt Disney trippers would be extreamly appriciated and welcomes. Come to think of it, anyone have any good advice for taking 3 young kids on a plane for the first time. Liam is the only one who has been on a plane before and he was 2. I am bring coloring books, crayon rollups (thankyou big give), Leapsters for the younger kids and a nintendo ds for Liam.:thumbsup2

Sitting in the airport in Orlando!!! My boys are five and seven and we had a two hour flight. They were so busy looking out the windows and eating their snack that we did not have to keep them busy much. It was easier than I thought it was going to be.

Have a wonderful week!!! Just make sure you enjoy every moment. It was the most incredible week of our lifes. I will be starting my TR very soon!!!

I pray you have the most incredible week of your life.

Deyki is doing well after his tests this week. I have a new baby for awhile. SweetiePie came last night and will be here at least a few days, maybe longer. I am crazy, busy with a three months old, 18 month old, and my own three children. It's a fun kind of busy though. SweetiePie is a snuggly, happy baby. He also has something called idiopathic autoimmune hemolytic anemia that I am trying to educate myself on. he sleeps more than most little babies and tires easily, but when he is awake he is a joyful fellow. No tiime to think much about Disney though. I guess it will make the waiting seem shorter at least!

You guys that are preparing for trips....

I really don't want any of you guys to panic.

I have the swine flu. I just got back from Disney and the doctor all but said I probably got it there, since I have not even been home 48 hours when I started showing symptoms.

I was pretty careful...especially since I was around Lucas all three days...but I still got it.

I have a habit of scratching my nose. I have allergies and am forever reaching up to my face and scratching my nose or wiping my eyes. And the surfaces at Disney are just impossible to disinfect.

Wash your hands ALL the time...and carry around the hand sanitizer and try - but I failed, so I don't know why your kids would be able to do it? - to get your kids not to touch their faces.

I also flew...which may make a difference. I could have gotten it in the plane on the way home.

I know of 7 people that were in Disney with me - my friend Sharon who stayed in a 1 BR villa with me (so she had her own room/area) and her "friend" Doug. Also Lucas' family. Doug has called Sharon and HE also "officially" has the flu. I talked to Lucas' Mom earlier today and she is feeling run down with a scratchy throat - which could certainly just be from traveling and such.

At any rate...I have severe asthma and so far I am not really that sick. I just feel like I have a cold, but also have a fever. I don't feel great - but have certainly felt sicker.

If you are going - please take extra, extra precautions - but still have a GREAT TIME! I would still go...if I had to do it all over again, even though I got sick...I would still go and have a great time! I would just try to be even more careful about touching my face.

I hope you feel realy better real soon and am glad that you had a wonderful time a Disney.

We also took Clorox Bleach Wipes to wipe down tables. So that is a good ideal. For all that is going I had brought everything too. But got so caught up in the day that sometimes we forgot. But be so very careful and slow down and take your time to use those products.

Enjoy it is a magical place!

Hello, Wish Trippers! Honestly, when I joined the DIS years ago, I had no idea I'd ever be posting in this thread, but our son, Wes (pictured below after his first haircut at Harmony when he was 15 months old), was diagnosed with Wilms' Tumor in January. He's well enough after six months of chemo to do his Wish Trip, which is based around wanting to swim with stingrays. The best place for that? Discovery Cove!

We'll also be back at WDW as much as we can - we're going October 6-12, staying at the Hyatt Regency. (I was hoping for GKTW, but that didn't happen.) I'm glad to know all of you are here, and I'll keep you updated!

I'm sorry to hear about your son's tumor. At my daughter's 1 year checkup, our pediatrician felt a lump in DD abdomen. It ended up that my daughter was diagnosed with a Wilm's Tumor too.

I'm very happy to hear that your DS is doing well and congrats on your trip! There are great people on this thread that can answer any questions you might have. How cool that your DS will get to swim with stingrays! :goodvibes

I'm so happy to hear your DS is doing well enough to go on his Wish Trip. Discovery Cove sounds amazing. The people on this board are absolutely incredible and full of information, advice, and pixie dust!

Tim:

Do you mind if I ask what stage your daughter's tumor was? Wes was five when he was diagnosed, and it was Stage 4, having spread to his lungs. The metastases are the big concern, as he is rated as having a "high risk" of relapse. But his last CT scan was clear, so we are hanging onto that. The scar from his nephrectomy is finally starting to fade, and we are going to be brave and have his port removed after we get back from FL.

I'll be thrilled to provide the first Discovery Cove TR! Our MAW letter said that he will also be getting a VIP tour of SeaWorld (I hope he'll be excited about that, but we live in San Diego and have APs for SeaWorld here) AND Animal Kingdom, which is one of my favorite parks on the planet.

MAW has been wonderful - they invited Wes to come to the Padres' park last week to present an award to Adrian Gonzales on the field. I'm not a big sports person, but even I knew this was a big deal. DH and I were out of town, so FIL took him and said that Wes had a blast!

Juliana's Tumor was stage 1. Her oncologist wasn't sure it was even a Wilms because of her age and the size of the Tumor. He was hoping it WAS a Wilms and not another cancer(can't remember which one though). When the surgeon came out of surgery he told us to thank our pediatrician... he was shocked she was even able to feel the tumor. He said when Juliana was laying on the table he was feeling her abdomen and couldn't feel anything. I believe her tumor was the size of a baseball.

We truly have been blessed and have dealt with many great nurses, doctors, and surgeons at Connecticut Childrens Medical Center. She just celebrated two years of being cancer free in August.

I'm glad to hear Wes had clean scans! What type of protocol is he on? Getting that port out is a big step in the right direction! Having a 1yr old going through this and a 5 yr old, there are major differences in their emotions, missing school, the way they express how they feel, etc. I know that being a parent, you would trade places with your kids in a second.

Someone told us that 'God doesn't give you anything you can't handle'. You don't realize the strength that you and your family have inside and you all will get through.

I am one of those addicted DISers so I am on here basically 100 times a day.LOL:lmao: If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask... Do you have a schedule of what days you are going to the parks? We will be in Disney from October 3-8th. If we cross paths I'd love to stop and say HI to you guys!!!

Tim

We don't have a park schedule yet - we've just been told we'll be going to DC, and getting VIP tours of SeaWorld and AK. As soon as I know more, I'll post it, though.

Wes was/is on an experimental protocol that involved vincristine, doxorubicin, and dactinomycin, but no radiation. Radiation is the normal standard of care for Stage 4, but we were thrilled to get him in a study that tried to avoid it.

I look forward to getting more information about our trip and sharing it!

We are doing AK on our last day, Thursday 10/8, then leaving AK and driving to the airport for the flight home.:sad2:

Juliana had about 6 months of vincristine and dactinomycin and no radiation. She goes every 3 months for her scans. Hopefully in November her scans will spread out to every 6 months.

That is great that Wes didn't have radiation. A friend of mines son had leukemia and needed radiation and he was totally wiped out all the time. I don't know if Wes gets frequent fevers, but we took many late night drives to the ER with Juliana. When the port comes out the urgency of rushing to the ER should slow down as well.

At the time that Juliana was diagnosed, CCMC had had 3-4 cases of Wilms Tumor, which our oncologist said was an extremely high number at one time for 1 hospital. I'm sure you know the stats but only 500 cases of Wilms are found in the US every year. They tried to see if there were any environmental factors that were similar among the cases, but they found none.
