I'm Shari -- living in Louisville, KY and we're excited to get to planning our trip. I keep seeing references on here and in your all's trip reports about the Big Give. Could somebody tell me what that is? I tried asking the question here on the CB but nobody replied.

Wow, we have a little over a week left before we leave on our trip. I am getting so nervous. We have never traveled with our DD since diagnosis and I must say my mom nerves are kicking in.

I called her doc and he is sending a letter for the airline. I don't know if this is required or not but thought it might help.

I also posted some pics of the last packages recieved. Thank you Cajunfan!

Update on Lauren's Grandmother...

(For those just joining us, Lauren's grandmother had a blood clot on her spine and it has caused a spinal cord injury.)

Her injury is at T11/T12, which is really low, almost to the lumbar spine. She can move her toes, but she can't feel them and she can't put any pressure on our hands with her legs...Hopefully she will gain some of this back...but at this point we are all really wondering what the ultimate outcome will be.

She will be moved to the rehab hospital tomorrow, hopefully. I will keep you guys posted.

Wow maroo how terrible. I'll certainly keep them in my thoughts and prayers. thanks for the update.

My mom had a cancer in her T12 -- nearly ate the entire thing. She has a lot of rods and stuff in that area now and the bone has nearly grown all the way back.

Maroo-I am still praying for Lauren's Grandmother. I hope the rehab will help her. They can really do alot at rehab that you wouldn't think possible. My uncle was told he would never walk again and he not only walks but also works at a job that requires him to stand all day.
The power of prayers is awesome and I am on board for that part

Sorry, I must be what i read about when folks refer to "Lurkers", i am not reading to cause trouble or disputes. Just stumbled upon a wish trip report while trying to plan our first Florida vacation on DIS and have found myself spending every free moment the last week reading all 144 pages of this thread.

Just want to say to each and every one of you that you are all the true meaning of "Heros" and bless each child who has to live thru such a trying and challenging childhood........i have really enjoyed reading all the posts and am now heading to all the pre-trip and trip reports, that i am sure will bring a tear to my eye but a smile to my face as these brave little souls face the world with such different perspective than all us "healthy" folks. My children have also enjoyed looking at all the pictures and really hope to see a special child cutting in front of us in line while we are on vacation in November so they can wish them well and tons of fun while on their vacation.....

I am sure, if you keep your eyes out, that you will probably see a wish child on your next trip. They are special kids and families!! (I can say that since I am "not the Momma")... lol
