Major Rumor Marvel in ToT update page 25

The next few years will be interesting for sure. But just think about it. Even Toy Story land will have its own space themed attraction with the green aliens.

You cracked the code! DHS will be renamed and rethemed to be Disney's NASA Adventure!

Anyone else think the conversation at WDI may have gone like this:

Exec 1: "Hey, we are paying Aerosmith a ton of money and young people only know Steve Tyler as 'that old lady from American Idol'. Time to cut bait on those guys."
Exec 2: "I know, let's retheme the ride to Guardians of the Galaxy. That's got the rock music that the kids today like so much!"
Exec 1: "Hey great, we don't have to pay Marvel anything! But wait, won't the fans be upset?"
Exec 2: "Oh who cares? Are they shareholders? We only care about shareholders."
Exec 1: "But - we don't need anymore negative publicity."
Exec 2: "I have an idea, we have this recent survey that says Tower of Terror is our customers favorite ride in the park. What if we let the rumor out that we're going to retheme the Tower to GotG?"
Exec 1: "Why would we do that?"
Exec 2: "Because fans will HATE that more. Then when we let them know it's actually RnRC, they'll be praising us!"
Exec 1: "Genius! Here's a suitcase full of $100 bills and the inside track to be Iger's second-in-command"
Exec 2: "Oh no, you aren't tricking me with that one...I'll take the suitcase though."

I don't actually think many people will be mad about retheming RnR though. And I think most people will like whatever they do better. Are fans of RnR actually fans because of the great neon cardboard signs they see during the ride? The number of people who genuinely love the Aerosmith songs has to be incredibly low. The best part of the whole ride is the preshow and the loading area themed to look like a back ally in LA. It would be the same ride, but with better effects.

Spirited update

The tower of terror gaurdians retheming is still moving forward. It's going through final design approvals. In Anaheim ToT would close this October to give time for a new elaborate pre-show and queue. WDW execs don't like the costs of this so they continue to complain but Bob Chapek is pushing forward with it. He says it's basically a done deal for Anaheim but not guaranteed for Orlando but still likely.

So supposedly, amidst Shanghai going over budget, and all of the cuts that have already happened, Chapek is going over the heads of all the other WDW execs to spend money that doesn't have to be spent? Sorry, but like two week old milk, I ain't buying it.

Well this is cheaper for what Anaheim originally was going to do with the Marvel Mini-land and a major marvel E -ticket coaster. I think its more likely to happen in Anaheim than WDW.

Again - I can believe the Anaheim portion more than the ToT one. The fact they are installing a ToT Bar in the attraction doesn't exactly scream to me "we have plans to retheme it". Can't see them taking ANY attraction in DHS down for a long period of time between now and Star Wars opening. Beyond that, MAYBE.

They just need to give this up. Nobody want's them to change the ToT. It's a modern classic!

I am hoping the installation of the bar means that DHS is safe. I am more worried about the DCA one. I agree about spending the money on this. It's not going to bring more people to the parks than ToT already does. Now, IF they are going to build a whole Marvel area behind it in DCA I can see it, but it sounds like now they just want to use it as a stop-gap instead of building that. But, what's the point?

I'm worried about the one in DCA too. If the rumors turn out to be right, we won't even get a chance to ride one last time before it closes for the changeover.

I've been very complimentary of the things they have done with DCA over time. This would definitely be a step back in my book.

To be honest, we love the ToT because of the ride, not the theme. As long as the ride is still the same, they can do a different over-lay without impacting my family's enjoyment of the attraction.

Tower of terror is the epitome of Disney theming and detail. It the classic example of old school Imagenerring. I can't even fathom them taking away ToT in Orlando. It's a classic, one of my favorites, and should not be given some half-butt attempt at putting marvel in the parks. This is very concerning to me. I'm sorry if I seem over dramatic but this would just flat out suck. I don't like it all. For Disclaimer I have not seen Guardians nor I am going to. That's not the point, if they were a Star Wars overlay I'd be just as upset. I can only pray that someone in uppermanagement bumps there head and realizes how stupid this is. Sorry rant over lol

I haven't seen guardians either but it is on my DVR to watch why won't you watch it?

Also this is much more likely for DCA than it is DHS.

Just doesn't seem like my kind of movie lol but tbh I wasnt into seeing any of the marvel movies until I watched all of them (iron man and on and besides guardians) last month. And I loved them and am super excited for civil war.

And I cannot speak to the dynamic at DCA as I've never been there or Disneyland, but I just think this wrong for WDW. I used to work at the quick service locations right before ToT last year, and everyday I got to look at it and admire it and then before work I'd go and ride it a lot. It is a true icon of the Disney parks. I couldn't imagine them messing with it just as I couldn't imagine them messing with them overlaying Spaceship Earth

GoTG was an awesome movie, I am an old Comic buff, and my youngest is really into Marvel, and loving the superhero move in movies. That said, of all the movies from Marvel so far, GoTG was one of the best, along with the original Avengers and Iron man.

I get the move in CA, if they are moving to expand and have a Marvel area(which we have heard for a while) then the overlay makes some sense. I am just not sure where the drop would fit in from the movie................
