Major Freak Out Right Now... UPDATE: Problem Resolved Post 13

Glad this all worked out for you. I would have been a nervous wreck until I got an answer, :scared1:

I'm glad that your issue was fixed.
I hope BOTH of your issues were fixed. You got one issue fixed by getting the reservation reinstated, but I would sure check on your points status.

Even if Walter told you everything was perfect, I'd call MS back and just double check your points to be sure the holding points were used for the reinstated ressie. Sometimes they just pop a new ressie in and the points stay in holding while they use other points for the new ressie. I've even heard of points being borrowed to correct a mistake like this, so be sure you double-check the points. That should not have happened here, but I'd want to be certain.

Okay, so I still don't understand how things like this can happen????? How can someone at SSR arbitrarily cancel a reservation????? I suspect there is something rotten with the computer programs again.:confused3

For some reason the room assigner at SSR needed to cancel and rebook the reservation to assign the room. They mean well but anytime the resort messes with your points, you run the risk of things getting screwed up.

All resorts can cancel reservations, whether DVC or cash. As to why they have the ability to do so, I assume it is part of the program that also allows them to book reservations at the resort. We had a cash reservation at POP once that had 3 people listed when there are only two of us. This dates way back to an error a CM made on an AP years ago...he took my middle name, rather than my first name from my drivers license...and ever since then Disney thinks there are "two" of me, one named Chuck and one named my middle name. They've never seemed to be able to delete the other from the system.

Anyway, they cancelled the original reservation at POP to remove the 3rd name and refund the additional person fee that had been erroneously charged, and had to make a new reservation just for Mom & I. Disney doesn't seem to like to let front desk personnel make changes, so it likely was a manager or room assigner that messed up the OPs reservation.

ITA! The BWV front desk messed up our points giving us an upgrade I didn't ask for and didn't want!

I wish they were better trained.

On a luckier note, we once had to leave BWV early because of an emergency. I expected that the points would be lost, according to the rules, but when I was checking the member website about another reservation I noticed that I had points in holding. I told MS about it but they didn't change anything. So I was able to treat a family member, who was in desperate need of a vacation, to a last minute VB OV room. I assume that it was BW front desk that messed up because MS would not have any way of knowing that we needed to leave early from our BWV stay.

I can't help but wonder what would have happened if you hadn't been so diligent and watched the reservations on the Members' site so often. You might not have known your reservation got cancelled until you got there, and by then the resort could have been full. This would give me a very un-fuzzy feeling (as it did when we stood at the front desk being told our reservation had been cancelled).

glad you got it all straighten out.....i agree with the poster who said problems seem to arise when the resort makes room assignment changes...i had booked a SL studio at BWV last June for my daughter....member services said i could call BWV on her check in day to give them my cc info so the girls could charge to the room...when i called BWV they told me i had canceled the reservation the day before....ummmm...no....after being on the phone with MS & BWV for over an hour...it was straighten out...they had no SV rooms to put them it and were assigning them to a PV studio.....which they then charged me more points for...that took another few weeks to straighten out

Normally, I wouldn't have been so compulsive about checking my reservation online. I emailed MS a few weeks ago to add my requests (Grandstand, pool view) and I figured I would check to see if anything changed on the reservation. That's when I saw that the reservation was canceled.

The 24 points that went into holding were used to rebook the stay, so all is well there.

I still have some concerns about this snafu. What happens when my mid-November stay at the BCV (in a dedicated 2BR) disappear a week before my trip? I would likely be hosed at that point, I'm guessing.

From this point on, I'll be checking frequently on any upcoming stays.
