Major Complaint!

While I wouldn't call it a major complaint, I am a little sad that WDW is now like any other vacation destination when it comes to TV viewing. I know we are in the minority, most people couldn't stand the minimal TV selection, but it was nice to get away from all the talk, talk, talk of the normal daily routine. We were among the few who never understood the need for a larger TV in the room, lol.

We rarely ever watch TV in the World, but while in our room we would put on the Zip-a-dee-do-dah Tip of the Day (long gone), cartoons on 96 or the resort channel with the cute Disney music while we prepared for the day, or for bed in the evening. It's the sound track I hear in my head when I think of trips to the World. I hope the resort channel at least is still there, we'll be disappointed if it is gone, too.

We LIKED being in the Disney bubble, a major reason for going to WDW so often was the ability to block out the real world for a while.:cloud9:

YES! See? This person understands! I LIKE being in a bubble in Disney World. You'd see things that you would never see ANYWHERE else. It made Disney World SPECIAL. Now, in that regard, that magic is gone. Major props to this person. YOU GET IT!

LOL, well we're the strange birds in the group I suppose. My kids LOVE all the park tour, DVC...etc channels. My teenage daughter even watches the Disney park tours on Netflix LOL when we're at home.

We don't have cable at home, and we're not in the room too much anyway to watch TV. Still it wouldn't be Disney without some Disney'esque channels :) to check out in the morning or when we're winding down at night.

Thank you. You get it too. :)

I think many people get it, we just don't agree with you. It is easy enough for you to keep the tv shut off, or switch channels if you don't like what is on. If I was stuck in the room with a sick child, or because of the weather, I would appreciate having more than just Disney cartoons or Stacey on.

As it is during our stay in March I had to throw a TV coup to put something, anything on, besides Austin and Ally.:headache:

I could not agree more, k&a&c'smom! I love to be immersed in the Disney bubble 24/7 while I'm there.

Just wish they would replace Stacey with someone else, though. ;)

The OP's website has a wheelchair symbol in the logo. He may not have a sick child, but he may be disabled himself.

I guess I don't understand what you are trying to say with this.

All I'm is that I would appreciate more channels to watch, and more so if I were stuck in the room. It is easy enough for people who don't want to watch tv to turn it off.

I agree with you 100%.

I apologize if I came across wrong, I was just saying that it may be that the OP spends time in the room due to a medical issue or something.

No, you didn't come off wrong. I was just a bit confused by the comment, that is all. But thanks for explaining.:)

LOL - I agree with that for sure. We are not fans of Stacey, which again puts us in the minority! Well, it used to, more people seem to be losing the love for her style.;)

Hmmmmm......Disney 'expert'.....been a member on here at least 18 months......only 10 posts to date......I smell a troll!

I dont see the poster as a troll...I see someone with a complaint that they are perfectly allowed to have. Many don't agree with the complaint which is fine too.

And don't subscribe to the "low post count and long history, so a troll" theory. I created a login at wdwmagic over a year ago and haven't posted with it.

There is a new "Stacy show". I mean if we are complaining here, let's bring back the old Stacy show!!! Her outfits were absolutely HYSTERICAL. The kids would turn her on in the morning as we were getting ready and it was always the perfect start to the day. I found old Stacy on Youtube. I watch her when i'm having a bad day. Cheers me up every time!!pixiedust:

;)

I miss old Stacy too! My son loves to leave the tv on the "Stacy show" as he calls it all the time when we're at the resort. We used to love when she would name the countries in Epcot and then say "yummy, yummy, yummy" or when she'd go through the donut in Rock N' Roller Coaster. They took all the fun parts of the show. Although we'll be there in 2 weeks and I'm sure I can look forward to 8 days of the Stacy show.

Hi all,

I thought I'd reply and further explain myself.

First off, I'm not a troll. I don't know exactly what that is, but I know I'm not one.

Yes it is true that I originally posted on here to see if anyone knew where I could obtain those videos of WDW commercials. I did that because I knew someone who posted some videos of what I wanted onto Youtube. If you have any knowledge of Youtube, you know that Youtube videos are originally uploaded from a computer file. However, the person I saw that had the videos I wanted would not tell me where he obtained the files. This is why I posted on this board for any further information.

Why am I posting now? The answer is very simple. I have my very own Walt Disney World blog. It's called beyondthecastleblog.com.

I've been very blessed in being in contact with Justin Jett. He has helped me so much in attempting to grow my blog. A blog in which I hope to have become my business one day. One of the many tips Justin gave me is to become active on this board. I thought I would take him up on his advice and voice a complaint I had.

As far as my complaint goes, let me explain further. I have no problem with the expansion of channels. What I miss are simply the WDW commercials like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y01J...4162F459CC76D4 That's all I'm saying.

I hope I explained myself enough. I look forward to reading responses regarding this topic. Have a magical day!

Kevin

I am so glad you posted your comments. I couldn't understand why some posters were being so nasty. I agree that the poster is allowed to have a complaint whether I agree with him/her or not. As for being a troll - what is wrong with that? I didn't post any comments on this board for almost a year after joining. I was just gathering as much information as I could and enjoying the help and friendliness of the majority of posters.

A troll is somebody who comes on and posts a comment or question with the intention of starting a fight.

A lurker is somebody who has a membership (or not) and reads the posts but does not comment.

We fought so hard to get Disney to add those channels that even the idea that they could get rid of them and make some happy (plus save money) made some defensive (myself included).

DIS is a huge forum with over 40 million posts and several hundreds of thousands of active members. Disney does read this forum and we suspect they float comments to see the potential reactions of their guests.

Since you are a new member I hope you plan to stick around and while this thread immediately went off the rails, we do welcome you and we are happy to have you here. If you assume the average DIS member has been going to Disney for 20 yrs then this forum has a collective membership of over 81.7 million years of experience... They can answer just about any question you may have...

Lastly, good luck with your blog. I hope it works out for you. I suspect out of the +400k DIS members some will have what you are looking for. I know i have many of those promotional videos Disney use to send out going way back into the early 80s. So what you want is out there but to get it will be difficult. The person will have to digitize it and that is a lot of work.

Very nice comment - also thanks for clearing up troll/lurker definition. I always thought they meant the same thing.
