You could expand your airport selection to include Philly to increase your chance of a goo deal. Sorry, no points to give, but I hope you can locate what you need to make the trip work. I imagine your whole family is scrambling for flights since you are all scattered.

If you can fly back on the 4th you might be able to get a good deal. The 4th is considered a low day- it's the days around it that are the bad ones.

I'm thinking (hoping?) that the OP means to buy the credit, not ask for it for free. Buying credits will reduce the price presuming she pays less than face value. (Never mind that SWA doesn't want you to do it.)

I'm thinking that if you want to fly into the DC area on the 3d you had better book ASAP.

You might try Priceline if you are going to be arriving more than a day early.

I have bought them off craigslist before and was hoping to do the same with this post. Sorry if I did not make myself clear, I am scrambling trying to get this trip planned on such short notice.

For anyone interested, I think I did pretty good on our flights, considering it is a holiday weekend. I booked two one way flights and it ended up being $234 per person, much less than flying round trip to NYC. We are flying into D.C. mid-week and staying with my youngest sister. My kids have never been to D.C. so it will be fun for them to see a few things there. We will then drive up to NYC for the wedding with her. Flying out of NYC on the afternoon of the 4th and will hopefully be back home in time to watch fireworks with DH. He was in Iraq last year for the 4th of July so spending SOME time with him on the holiday is super important to me. Unfortunately, I don't think he will be able to make the trip due to work obligations.
