Is it wrong that I have tears just looking at the website?? Oh how I love WDW!

Haha! Not at all. I almost cried too! I was debating calling my DH in to watch the presentation on the site, but my throat was all closed up b/c I was on the verge of tears and it didn't work, I couldn't speak, so I didn't show him. :teeth:

But my DTwin and I are the same way, cry over everything. The other day in my car, we were listening to Wishes and she actually sang the ending thru without getting choked up and at the end she said "OMG! I can't believe I just did that without getting choked up"! And I ALWAYS cry over SpectroMagic, so, you get the point, I'm a Disney emotional disaster.

I am confused about something. I thought the major announcement was a big secret and was going to be released this morning on the 7th, but this was posted last night.

What am I missing. :confused3

And What are they Suppose to Annouce Exactly ?? Details on Whats in Store for October ???
Please Keep Us All Posted on Details !!!! :happytv: :hyper2:

Here is my dream... we stay in the Castle for an entire week and Cinderella would tuck us in and Mickey Mouse would wake us up in person. During our own personal EMH we would be escorted to each and every ride/show with a different character walking and riding with my children. During regular hours we would have unlimited fastpasses, free dining, and private carriage/limo transportation anywhere in the world. Every evening there would be a special event where my children could hand pick 20 families from anywhere in the world to join us for a private dinner party with characters or grand marshall a parade or watch the fireworks from CA Grill. Just love mouse dreaming!!!

First, congratulations for your sucess with beating your illness. My best wishes for continued sucess! Can you explain more about the "tour" and select time you're going to Disney? Is that a well known time to go for cancer survivors? I've never heard of it before. I've been trying to get my mom to come with us for our Sept. trip - maybe that would help! Thanks!

The Victory Tour is just a group of patients from my support group who are all taking vacation together and nicknamed it "The Victory Tour". It's nothing organized or officially sanctioned by anyone, including the American Cancer Society and WDW. We will all be wearing ribbons in the color that represents the type of cancer we have so if you see one of us please say hi!

As I think more about this, it would seem that they will have to be able to "randomize" the winners.

This was just posted elsewhere--don't know where it came from originally, they didn't give the source:

New Global Promotion "Year Of A Million Dreams"
New Disneyland Promotion: "Where Dreams Come True".
Focus of promotions is to give families unique experiences at Disney theme parks world wide.
Experiences may include special ride experiences, VIP hotel stays, special desserts, private meals with a Princess, private training sessions with a pirate, or complimentary admission.
The unique experiences would be randomly awarded to families "picked out of the crowd", to promote the theme that by simply being at a Disney theme park, you "dreams" could come true.

I can see that they can put The Golden Fastpasses in the Fastpass machine making it a random give away, or have the computers set to pop up randomly with upgrades or "freebies" at the resort check in, or at the turnstyle when you check in. Maybe they will have the restaurant computers set up to randomly "pay" for meals, or purchases at the shops.

But not sure how they will pick for some of the "experiences", except maybe at resort checkin or entering the park. I would think they can't just empower the CM's to make a choice, unless it is something fairly minor like the current system for park opening family or parades. As someone mentioned before, there are lots of legalities in giving away prizes and sweepstakes and such, but I am sure the army of Disney lawyers are all over this!

I just think it will be interesting how they keep it truly random and keep it from being "corrupted" by questionable CM's (you know there must be a few that would be willing to be bribed or try to give stuff to friends, even if it could mean losing their job) and also keep Disney Guests from throwing a big stinky fit when a family is chosen, but not them--KWIM?

CAN'T WAIT to hear more tonight!

Also, still hoping for the hard ticket Pirates and Princesses event to go along with all this!

Ok, I just entered the sweepstakes and intend to every single day they have it.

Question though. I'm getting all excited about this Celebration and I don't even know what the heck it even is exactly. The site was so incredibly vague that all I really got out of it was that it's some sort of Sweepstakes. But is that it?
When people are talking on this thread about when does it begin/ when does it end, are they talking about the Sweepstakes? Is that what begins in October and goes on thru next year? That guests will be winning some sweepstakes? Because, other than that, what is it?
What exactly begins in October? What's going to be different than the norm?
It just seems like a Promotional tool so far.
It's reminiscent of the Happiest Celebration on Earth. I was in WDW on 3 seperate occasions for this celebration and it's not like anything was different or there was an actual celebration. It's the same thing. When Disney says it's ending September 30th, well, what exactly is ending? What, they're gonna take the banners down that they put up in the different parks? B/c other than that, nothing was different. I mean, they used that promotion to introduce some new attractions and the Magical Express, but those things aren't coming down when the Happiest Celebration on Earth ends.
Just a thought :confused3 , but, I have a feeling, if I do go in October, the only thing that will be different is that it'll now be more crowded than it would've been if there wasn't a "celebration".

It is a promotional tool. It's their new campaign after the 50th Celebration ends. The Sweepstakes is a contest to win a trip for 4 to WDW on Oct. 1-4, to kick off the campaign. I'm sure they'll have the winners involved in some sort of ceremony, and that will be used in ads. Then somehow they will give away the other little "extras" such as the Golden Fastpass or the lessons with a princess or a pirate. I bet they might just do that at random in the parks, probably having a manager or someone pick the people.

from what i understand it sounds cool, but i am still a little confused about some things all though im not really sure what im confused about. :confused3

Im going in December and cant wait to see whatever they do.

Sorry, what is so exciting about this? All I get from the website is a trip for 4 to WDW, just like pretty much any other trip to WDW you wouldn't win from another contest.

well, maybe now I'll get different luggage tags sinc eit won't be the 50th anniversary anymore and I'll be able to buy stuff that says Dreams do come true on them and things like that. Doesn't change any of my plans. I did enter the sweepstakes too. I would love to win and go in october and go again in December. I already know who I would be taking in october too!

I still think there muxt be more to this. WDW wouldn't go to all the trouble of the theme, website, and press conference to announce an impossible-to-win trip for 4 and to tell us they're giving away some Mickey bars, pins, and fast passes. They wouldn't, would they? ;)

From what I get from some other sites is that it will be a "celebration" park wide so I'm sure that the contest is to just kick it off.

Is anyone else having trouble registering? It keeps telling me I'm not entering a valid zip code.

The OP is back - although briefly. There seems to be some confusion so I will try to set the record straight. After following the thread about today's (June 7) press conference I tried to see if maybe some guess work would provide some information. One of the addresses I tried was wheredreamscometrue.com - Go ahead, try this and see what happens. I realized I was among the first (maybe even the first) to see this new Disney site and decided to share with all my DISers. The site is not about the sweepstakes - that is really secondary, it is about the new theme for all disney parks. To help celebrate the theme, they are having a sweepstakes where the winner must be able to travel to WDW on Oct. 1. This family will probably play an important role in showing the rest of us how Disney can make dreams come true. Whoever these lucky folks are, remember to dream BIG! During the "Year of a Million Dreams" people will be awarded their dream, sometimes small sometimes big. As Disney has listed 8 'parks' (DVC shows as a park, Disney vacations shows as a park, etc. ) there will likely be people winning their dreams every day at every park. As I agree with other posters that this will all likely end on Sept. 30th 2007, 1 million divided by 365 days is over 2700 winners per day - not a small number. I also think that this whole program is over and above what Disney currently does with pixie dust so I am really wishing we were going during that promotion.

For the poster that didn't see what the big deal with the 50th anniv. was, you must we walking through the parks with your eyes and ears closed - did you not notice the castle, Cindy's celebration, MGM's stunt cars, soarin, etc. etc. etc.

It was a long time ago...probably in the late 80's...but I remember going to Disney a number of times and when you put your ticket in the turnstyle at the park entrance you could win something. I'm sure it was some sort of anniversary promotion...and was random. We won a couple of passes, but I think there were other prizes.

I'm thinking that in addition to at park entrance, the point of sale systems they use everywhere (hotels, snack places, stores, restraunts, etc.) could be able to also be programed to choose a guest at random. Just a thought!
