I know that the lighthouses themselves are mostly off-limits. I'm wondering if it's possible to access the parks/other viewing areas in the winter. The websites only really state that visitor centers, etc are closed in the winter. What I don't know is if parking lots, etc are plowed or packed down enough to get there, if parks are completely gated off, or if there's another area where the lighthouses are visible that it is possible to get to.
I'm thinking the viewing area for Nubble Lighthouse is open year round. I know they put Christmas lights on it and since there's usually snow in December, they would keep the parking area plowed if snow. I'll have to check with my sister who lives up that way.
Yes you can see Nubble Light year round...the parking lot is plowed. It's beautiful in the winter. I think am almost certain that Portland Head light is also accessible all year round
