Main Street Electrical Parade Returning!

Since I no longer live in FL and have no interest in visiting WDW any time soon, I pay no attention to what they’re doing there. We went back to WDW in May for five nights and that was enough to last at least five years. I’ll take DL any and every day over WDW.🙂🙂

Maybe it will come to WDW during the 50th...

Curious - something off about WDW? Being only 1 hour away from DLR, it's clearly our standard.

We find our experience at WDW much more compelling than our typical DLR visits-even when on-site. Less ride intensive, OTOH much more experience impacted.

Just wondering why WDW isn't a pull.

For us it has more to do with the “size” of WDW versus DL.. Again, I grew up in Florida and have been to WDW more times than I can count. In May every park was packed and since masks in the parks was mandatory “at all times” it was miserable with mid 90’s heat and humidity. Supposedly WDW was limiting capacity but you would not prove it by me. Obviously the weather nor the masks was WDW’s fault but it did take away from the overall enjoyment as masks were being changed out almost hourly due to being soak and wet from sweat.

Also, we stayed at the Riviera for five nights and there was only two parks that was easy to get to by using the Skyliner. The other parks (MK & AK) required buses which was a joke. We ended up calling Uber due to Disney reducing the number of riders on each bus but not adding more buses in service. If it stormed/rained as it usually does this time of year in FL then the Skyliner shuts down leaving only buses. Again a mess.

Epcot has always been my favorite Disney park. In May most of FW had construction walls everywhere making it hard to move around. IMHO Disney did a poor job of planning the updates in this area. Basically everything all at once.

In the end we just did not have a good time. Some of this was out of Disney’s control but I felt like they were being cheap on a lot of things. No housekeeping for five nights other than stopping in twice to drop off towels and empty the trash was hard to understand. It’s hard to drop ten grand on a trip and come away disappointed. We like the intimate setting of DL. Plenty of people love WDW which is great. We’re no longer on that team. 🙂

We purchased a lightbulb from the MSEP back when it was in its supposed last run. They have brought it back like 400 times and it sure seems like all the lightbulbs are there. What a sucker I am.

The thing about light bulbs is that they're relatively cheap to replace. Disney can just call up their factory in China to order another several thousand. But I think they did retire the old lights and put in slightly more energy efficient types for the 2019 run.

On another note, now that saying "Lady and gentlemen, boys and girls" is supposedly offensive or not inclusive enough do you think they'll redo the intro to the parade?

I know they were probably replacing bulbs all the time. I was really more making fun of myself 😜

Prediction:

MSEP will return to Disneyland park before the end of January.

This is ALWAYS the time of year they struggle with attendance and this parade is their "quick fix" whenever there are any problems with public perception at DLR. It's their olive branch as well as their carrot at the end of a stick to bring in locals.

This is a good prediction, I'll buy into it. When the parade returned in 2017, it started January 19 and ran through August.

Saw this on Twitter, for all you PTN cheerleaders :rotfl:

I like PTN, but MSEP is something special. My kids saw it in Sept 2019 for the first time and LOVED it so much more than PTN.
I love how the adoration of MSEP spans the generations! DH isn't even a parade person but he's stoked for MSEP. I hope it is back by late January. If not, I may be rethinking magic keys because I will just HAVE to see it!

I shamelessly admit I will never be sad to see MSEP brought back. Nostalgia is quite a pull...

Agree. A friend still laughs about how we were hanging out in the Emporium one marathon weekend before staking out a spot for Wishes - MSEP was not scheduled that night. She was on the phone with a friend from her hometown and I heard the MSEP announcement start and literally squealed and ran out the door - she said "Um, Beth just screamed and ran away, I need to go and find out what's happening". LOL.

I often overhear the MSEP song playing from my teens tablets or phones as they watch YouTube videos and my heart swells with pride.
