Norway 2026 Cruise

Our booking window for excursions opens April 13 for our July cruise to Norway. We are gold members so booking windows for higher levels are open. We are 4 adults looking mostly for sightseeing. Can't do anything more than moderate activity level because I'll be 6 months post knee replacement surgery. Looking for any opinion, comment, insight on the excursions in Rotterdam, Malory, Alesund, and Bergen. Thanks in advance.

I did the Norwegian Fjords cruise in 2022 on The Magic. One of the ports was Alesund.

We did the Norway cruise in 2025 and loved it! The only port that is the same as yours is Alesund. We didn't book an excursion in this port but walked around on our own. I do remember there was a sightseeing tram tour that took you around the city and to the top of the city steps. I climbed them on my own and the view, even in the rain, was spectacular.

On our Alesund day we did the "Path of Trolls" tour that went to Storval Church, a sod-covered house homestead, and the Trollstigen (Trolls Ladder) road with hairpin turns ( a man on a parked bicycle was crossing himself as we navigated past him). Some nice countryside views and waterfalls along the way.

In Bergen we took a tour that went to Fantoft Stave church replica and Edvard Grieg's home, Troldhaugen, which was especially interesting for classical music fans. Bergen's old town is also worth walking around with historic buildings, shops, and a fish market.

I don't remember either of these tours requiring extensive walking. There were some downward paths if you wanted to see inside Grieg"s composing hut or his grave marker on the hillside.

How's the weather in Norway in July?

While nothing is guaranteed, July is middle of summer, so it will be the warmest part of the year. However summer weather is relative to what you are used to. It most likely wont get above 20 C, but you will have long daylight hours, and it will stay bright at night to around 11.00pm with sunrise around 4.00am. You should get clear blue skies and low chance of rain and wind.
