Main Street Barber-- girls?

I almost forgot about this! I want ds-7 to get a little trim, and maybe something cute for dd-10. Where exactly is it located? I assume they still are first come first serve-right?:)

Last June, me, dh, and my 2 kids all got our hair cut & styled at the Barber Shop. We got there at opening and waited maybe 20 minutes. They put streaks of color and princess confetti in dd's and my hair. They spiked dh's hair pink (kids request) with a blue mickey head in the back and they did ds's blue with a mickey head and lots of confetti. It was only $60 some for 4 cut and styles. We got lots of compliments, even had strangers taking pics of my ds, lol.

Ok, I feel really stupid for asking...

I know that adults can't dress up, but will they do the updo and Tink confetti for the 31 year old kid in me? If not, I suppose I could buy some glitter ribbons and such and do my own funky updo (which I did a lot when I used to go out on the weekends before DS was conceived) but would the Barber Shop do me up too?

Maybe it sounds crazy, but hey, I still do hippie pig tails too.... :rotfl:

The last time we were in there a mother and daughter were getting matching hair-dos. It was cute!

As soon as you enter the park it is on the left next to the garage. Clarabelle the cow usually hangs out over there.

I heard a rumor that the Barber shop was going to stop doing the girls hair gel thing due to BBB opening at MK, you would have to go to BBB and pay the big $$$. Anyone else hear this? I can't remember what site I was on when I saw this.

I asked the ladies in the Barber shop this exact question when we were in there in September. Obviously, things could have changed by now, but what they said then was that it had been a huge discussion when BBB first opened. However, BBB has bee hugely successful & the Barber shop putting glitter in hair hasn't changed anything so the MK boss had told them that "as long as people are willing to spend $5.00 on a little bit of glitter & gel & stand in line an hour to get it done, he wasn't shutting it down." They had to follow strict restrictions on what they could do so that they weren't doing the BBB thing. But we LOVED what they did to our girl's hair & it really didn't look at all like the BBB girl's hair.

I guess I'll find out if they are still doing it this coming November when we hop in line to get it done again!

My DD was 2 1/2 last trip (too young for BBB) so we went to the Barbershop. She got a hair cut, pink and purple gel, pixie dust and castles and coaches in her hair. She LOVED it. I payed $20 and that included the tip. We waited in line for about an hour (our longest wait of the trip) but since she saw the other kids getting their hair done she didn't complain at all. I'm trying to fit a Barbershop trip in for our Oct. trip, but we'll see how it goes.

My DD received compliments for the rest of the day with her hair. We ate at the Princess Dinner in Norway that PM and everyone thought she went to BBB. When they found out what I paid for it (including a hair cut) I think some of them were about to faint since they paid a LOT more for their DD to get the BBB treatment.

Both my DD and I have gone to the barber shop, in fact, my DD waits to get her hair cut when we go, she only wants Miss Penny to cut her hair. DH has Mychael cut his hair while we're there as well.

I had Miss Penny put my hair up in a pony tail and she just gave me some hairspray and hit me with the glitter! I didn't want the colored gel in my hair. DD had a trim, some pink gel and glitter, she even had so princesses and pumpkin coaches in her hair that Penny put on the gel.

It does get to be a wait, even if you get there at opening, so be warned. we had some cranky lady in line upset because she apparently thought only little kids should be getting their hair done, she pitched a tantrum and left in a huff with her kids. She probably could have used some pixie dust. pixiedust:

I did have some lady stop me and she basically told me I was ridiculous for having glitter in my hair :snooty: but I had another lady stop me and ask me where she could get the same thing, I pointed her toward the barber shop and she made a bee line for it so she could be pixie dusted. I love it when other grown ups can be silly right along with me.

So I say go for it both to the OP and to the nice lady who asked about grown ups doing it. Really, if you can't be a kid at Disney World, where else can you really get away with glitter in your hair?

I was thinking of getting DD-- who is 2 -- her first haircut here... Is it more for a boys' first hair cut ??? i am confused

Hi - This is such a fun thing to do!!!

Okay -we were there on new years eve. I was turning the big 40 and got my hair geled with a rainbow of color, pixied and the castles and coaches too!!! It was soooo incredibly fun and when my mom came in to take my picture, the barber told her to close her eyes and she quickly spritzed and pixied my mom as she stood there!!

We got to see 2 babies get their first haircut there - the barber was amazing - very loving, kind, patient and cautious. played with them, gave them stickers, even asked the parent if they wanted to keep some hair - then he made up a gift certificate, gave them mickey ears and took a picture - sooooo cute!!

lots of kids - boys and girls got their hair done as well - one mom purchased a crown thing right from the store next to the emporium and they put it in. I was asked several times that day where I had gotten my hair done cause people loved it!!! it was soooo fun!!!! so worth the $7 bucks!!

That's awesome!

After I thought about it, I'm afraid the glitter my drop in to my son's face when I have him in his carrier. Maybe I should just opt for some funky Hannah Montana hair clips and just pony tail it instead!

I do plan on letting my DS's hair grow until next time we get to WDW - he's only 3 months so there's no way! And I MUST have his first hair cut at WDW!!! But I had made that clear to the whole family before he was ever born!
