If you send a letter within the same city that you sent it from (and actually in this case, within the same zip code), should it get there the next day?

In most instances, yes, but it doesn't always happen. My mom has a friend who lives literally right down the street from us, she sent us a Christmas card that took 9 days to arrive.

I find that it usually does get there within one day in our area... even about 2 hours away. HTH

Sometimes. Depends on the route it has to take to get to the main office. I've had them take 1 day, I've had them take 5. 2 is pretty average around here, though.

Everywhere except Richmond, VA. That was my answer before I even saw where you were from. I've read reports that state that area has the worst on time performance in the country.

We had a boat mortgage loan (very big boat) with a bank in Richmond. Even with mailing the payment 14 days in advance it often did not make it in time. I had to FedEx it for the last 3 years of payments to make sure they would be posted in time. The postings were always on time with FedEx. Cost me an arm and a leg though.
