I like to collect magnets from places I've been. I just enjoy seeing them on my refrigerator every day. Anyone found some nice Disney magnets? I like metal ones (think trading pin, but with magnet back). Are there nice resort specific magnets? I can't decide if I want just a nice Disney World magnet, park magnets, or resort magnets. Tips on best places to find them?

The main gift shop in each park will have some. FWIW the rubbery plastic ones are terrible at Disney. I've bought 3 and still can't get the things to actually stick to anything. They are the most unmagnetic magnets I've ever seen.

Agree! I have one that represents all 4 parks, but it curled up around the edges and keeps sliding off the fridge.

:sad2: Thanks for the warning! I like those 3d plastic ones too. I have a Hogwart's Crest one that I LOVE. Would have been great to have a "matching" 4 parks magnet. I'd be willing to reinforce it with a heavier duty magnet at home, but not if it is curling up!!

Hmm... wonder how hard it would be to get the pin off the back of a trading pin and glue a magnet there instead? Are the pin backs glued, or a single part of the pin?

Speaking of magnets, does anyone know if they had a 2014 metal magnet this year that spins? I collect them and for whatever reason, I forgot about it during our June trip and didn't get one (probably because I didn't see one). I searched eBay and found this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Disney-Four...249?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4860eb1479

. . . but I don't see where it has 2014 on it. Am I missing something?

I also found this that does have 2014, but it doesn't look like it spins.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Disney-Four...959?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51bf4d24ef

Has anyone seen the metal spinning kind for 2014? Thanks.

There are resort specific magnets. I have one from each resort we have stayed at since DD was born on our refrigerator (WL, Poly, GF, and BC). I know the WL one is total rubber and I have never had a problem with it falling off the refrigerator or curling up. I don't think any of the resort pins are metal. I also have a 4 parks spinner that we like to walk by the refrigerator to spin and see which park we should be in if we were at WDW that day. That one is metal. You will find a ton of magnets at WDW. I did have one rubber one from DL that is the Mickey crew that curls up and slides. Most places were you can buy magnets, you will find them either sticking on a metal post or piece for display, or you will find metal somewhere in the area or in the store where you can stick them to see how they do. I would just say be sure to do that before you buy. There was a rubber Minnie one I really liked one year, but it was sliding and not holding when I put it on metal there. Also when we got the BC one last year, I know that I was playing with them, and there was one that was not holding very well, but the others were fine- so I bought the one with the strongest hold. You will definitely have a lot to choose from!

As far as turning Disney pins into magnets- you could bend and break off the pin post and glue a magnet onto them. We have had a pin or two that much to our dismay the pin post broke off. You might have to file it down after you break off the pin post to get the magnet to lay flat, or place the magnet under where the pin post was, but it could be done.

I am a magnet girl too! I like to get the rectangular ones cuz I like the way they all fit snuggly next to each other on my fridge! Can you tell me if they carry those at the parks?

Can't wait we leave in 4 days!

Great idea about testing the magnets before buying. I'll do that for sure.

If I find a pin I fall in love with, I might have to try turning it in to a magnet! I'm definitely going to get a nice spinner magnet.
