My DD just stuck a magnet on the TV :sad2: and now there is a huge greenish spot on the picture...will it go away or is there any way to fix it???

I kid you not.... take the magnet and be up near the tv... slowly back away from the tv holding the magnet and making circles in the air with it.....first smaller circles and then bigger as you get further away from the tv. My dd did this when she was small and we called my Mom's friends husband who is a tv repair guy. It worked perfectly. Sometimes the spot will go away on it's own.

Okay. I have to ask. WHY did your Dad put a magnet on the TV???? :confused3

Beliee it or not there is.... my kids did this and this helped.

Here's a fix for a monitor: http://woil.ws/fixmonitor/
Tv is pretty similar. We've used this fix for a TV and a monitor.

However, if its a flat screen LCD I'm not sure what to do.

The first thing I'd try is turn off the set. That's worked for me when my own DS had a magnet to close to both the tv and a computer monitor. The green spot was always gone when I restarted.

If that doesn't work, try the circles?

Yep, I had a TV repairman come to my house and do the same thing with a magnet only his magnet was huge and round. He called it demagnetizing the screen. It worked!

Most CRT units (TVs and monitors) have a degaussing circuit that is activated when you turn the TV on and off, this normally will correct the problem, but it may take a few days if the magnet was particularly strong. I don't think LCD screens are affected by magnets.

I truly don't remember (it was about 11 years ago). Do you remember Nannie??

My TV was on and I could see the screen changing colors as the magnet was being moved. He had to make several circles before the spot disappeared.

IT WORKED!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!! :worship:

That's so cool. I just did it to the TV in the guest bedroom. I'm bored, can you tell?
