Two 50th Anniversary MagicBand+ Designs Pulled From Shelves at Disney World

Two MagicBand+ designs have been identified by Disney as having issues, according to Cast Members BlogMickey.com spoke with yesterday. Both the “Partners” 50th Anniversary MagicBand+ and Cinderella Castle 50th Anniversary MagicBand+ devices were pulled from the shelves yesterday after Disney identified an issue with the devices’ ability to pair with your phone correctly. A fix is expected quickly, and the MagicBand+ designs could end up back on the shelves as early as today or in the coming days as Disney works to replace or fix defective bands.

Ordered both of these yesterday for pre arrival bands. Hope they don’t send the ones that aren’t working…. Now I’m nervous!

I am guessing it is a programming issue (or something like that) with MDE. No way they could restock completely new ones quickly if they need made. I think they prob are literally pulling from actual shelves in the parks so people don’t buy to use today when there is a glitch. That is my guess and hope since we ordered one of those.

How is the weight/feel of it compared to the current Gen2 Magic Band? Our adult daughter has small wrists and wanted to surprise her with a MB+ but the pictures definitely show it has a physically bigger faceplate but not sure about weight. Any information is greatly appreciated as we go down in one week. Thanks!

We watched a long stream last night and while the streamer said very slight differences in weight and size, we felt that it looked noticeably thicker and very slightly bigger looking at the shape of the face. I think holding them simultaneously, you'd notice a bit of weight difference, but separately - don't think it's going to be so much heavier that you really regret your buy. MB+ can also be trimmed down to kids sized, like before.

The bigger/heavier MB was a slight concern for us, but really much more having to charge it, and I personally get irritated by excessive vibrations and such and end up turning those features off. Which begs the question as to why buy one. I like several of the new designs though, and that's really the reason to buy one/two for me. I get that even with dead battery it still functions like the prior versions, but I'd still feel like I have to charge every night to justify having one, so to me, that's the same thing as having to charge it.

The confirmation email we got after ordering one via MDE said it would be shipped within ten days.

I placed an order for the new bands yesterday for our upcoming trip and never got an email confirmation. Should I be worried about that? I paid and got a confirmation number for the order but the confirmation email never came.

Not sure about AP specifically but they did give the DVC 20% discount and told me discounts were applicable when I asked. Unfortunately the MB+ currently does not connect properly to android devices, only Apple.

This makes me curious (obviously not just to you - but the video made me think of this): I think I saw you can change the color scheme of what lights up (did I get that right?). How does it look seeing other people's wrists light up (generally - or is MB+ buy-in too minimal to notice yet)? More specifically, is it distracting if Person A has a red palette, you have a blue palette, and Person C has a green one? Seems like the number of variables would distract from the overall show - but maybe it's too minimal to notice.
