MagicBand+ at Walt Disney World *NOW AVAILABLE!!!*

Probably 2 per design per person - but these hoard-to-sell people likely have multiple people buying them.
This and also they run to every available store on property to clean them out. Who's to say with the 3-4 different checkout points in the Emporium they just don't take 2 to each one.

The reselling is out of control.

Two 50th Anniversary MagicBand+ Designs Pulled From Shelves at Disney World

Two MagicBand+ designs have been identified by Disney as having issues, according to Cast Members BlogMickey.com spoke with yesterday. Both the “Partners” 50th Anniversary MagicBand+ and Cinderella Castle 50th Anniversary MagicBand+ devices were pulled from the shelves yesterday after Disney identified an issue with the devices’ ability to pair with your phone correctly. A fix is expected quickly, and the MagicBand+ designs could end up back on the shelves as early as today or in the coming days as Disney works to replace or fix defective bands.

Will it still work for photo pass if the battery dies while you are in the park?
Only to manually link photos where a photographer scans the MB or you touch a reader at one of the rides that have a photo display at the end.

Automatic linking requires a MB with charged battery or a smartphone (with bluetooth turned on) that has been logged in to MDE and MDE has permission to use bluetooth.

I was watching a video yesterday of someone pairing it and changing the settings and it brought up a question. Are you able to pair more than one MagicBand+ to your phone in cases where your kids have bands but they don't have phones? My daughter has an iPad, but she won't be taking it to the parks or anything and she doesn't have the MDE app (has no reason to).

Yes, you can pair multiple MB+s to a single phone.

To be honest these seem more trouble than their limited new functionality is worth. Maybe we'll get one for our daughter so she can wave to the statues and we'll just get the regulars for the adults.
This is absolutely what i'm thinking. Please oh please disney make me charge another digital device every night to enjoy my vacation😂. I'll use the old style and not be like the cool kids😉

I have read a lot about pairing the band to a phone to set it up, but I am curious whether it needs to be connected to a phone for the interactive things to work (similar to how an Apple Watch connects to the iPhone). I don’t keep my phone on all the time, so I am curious about whether I will need to now.

I can’t use the new bands until I upgrade my phone this fall, since I can’t download the current app on the old phone to do the set up, but I am enjoying reading about everyone’s experiences.

MagicBand+ Bluetooth Pairing Issues Persist as Launch Day Nears

As we continue testing of our MagicBand+ before the launch tomorrow, we’ve found issues with pairing the bands to our phones via Bluetooth. While the band still functions perfectly fine as a standard MagicBand, allowing us to tap in to the parks, use Lightning Line, and make payments, the enhanced features only work when the MagicBand+ is paired to a smartphone via Bluetooth.

Will it still work for photo pass if the battery dies while you are in the park?
Depends. For photos with the Photo Pass photographers where you tap your MagicBand to their device, yes, it will still work. And it will also work for rides that still have the tap points at the end of the ride where you can view your ride photo. But for rides that don't have a tap point to claim your photo, it will not work. (HM, Pirates, SDMT, Frozen, Slinky are the top ones that come to mind). That requires the battery to work. As a backup, you can allow MDE to use bluetooth and your phone will be able to pick up those photos. Basically, anything where you touch Mickey to Mickey will work even if the battery is dead. Anything that requires long range RF will not work if the battery is dead.

I arrive before you and didn't get a pick up option but on the "My Plans" page it says "Your MagicBands will be available at the Front Desk of your Resort hotel when you check in." so it must automatically change if you are within a certain time frame.

Thank you! Have a great trip!

So it actually switched back to shipping in My Plans. I called and the rep said they cannot make any changes even though I arrive the 8th and it is on the cusp of their window. The order can't be canceled or refunded but I was assured they work for 3 years so I can just use them next time if I don't get them in time! /s >:(

The MagicBand and MB+ have both passive and active RFID capability. The passive function does not require a power source other than what it receives from the scanner's antenna, while the active function does require a power source. Think of a car fob that you can press a button to open your car door, and start the car with it in your pocket. If the battery dies, you can still hold the fob against the ignition button and start the car. Same reason: passive and active RFID functions.

got an email at 3am that the one I ordered on Shopdisney is being shipped, nothing about the two I ordered on MDE yet.

Do you guys think that Orange Bird one is fine for a guy? I know that's a very personal choice, and the colors are more feminine but it's neat that it's an orange on the main design. I'm down to the Toy Story, Millennium Falcon gray star wars, black Mickey, and Orange Bird. Had just weeded out Up.

My friend agreed that the black Mickey would look cool lit up due to the black background and side design colors, but hesitant due to it being hot from the sun. I never felt my black watch was super hot. We were both surprised no Marvel. Would have liked a Figment.
I would have loved a Figment! I got the Orange Bird. I think the colors are fun and bright and not feminine.

suspected this to be the case but wasn't sure. We have 4, and only 1 of us is sure on buying one, and it's one of the sure to be more popular designs the MF Star Wars gray one, which I don't know how quickly it would sell
I saw some reporting from the parks today and they said bands were well stocked and re-stocked! So if everyone doesn't buy one, there should be opportunities at WDW.

Looks like we'll both be crossing our fingers!!! I have one from last year just in case - though I won't be too happy if the new one doesn't arrive.

How is the weight/feel of it compared to the current Gen2 Magic Band? Our adult daughter has small wrists and wanted to surprise her with a MB+ but the pictures definitely show it has a physically bigger faceplate but not sure about weight. Any information is greatly appreciated as we go down in one week. Thanks!
