Magical Oct 4, 2014 Southern Caribbean

Hi fellow Southern cruisers.....my DH John and I have decided to book this cruise. We did the 11 night southern with DCL in 2006 and LOVED all the ports. We couldn't resist doing this one again. Although Grenada and San Juan will be new ports for us. We're both very excited.

I love seeing some familiar faces on here....PJ and Angie and MJ and Tina....it will be great to sail with all of you again. I'm looking forward to making friends with some new faces too.

:woohoo::cheer2::woohoo:Welcome Aboard Deb & John ! It will be great to sail with you again. This is going to be an awesome cruise !!

Welcome!!!:goodvibes I have never done the southern before and I am sooooo looking forward to doing it!!!! Looking forward to chatting with you over the next year and 6 months.

This weeks question..........
Which ships have you been on and do you have a favorite one ?
I would say The Magic. We have only been on the Wonder and Magic. This will be our 7th cruise and we will get on the Fantasy in Dec. Although from what I like about the Magic and what I have been told about the Fantasy...I will be glad to get back on the Magic for this cruise. I just love her...she was my first and my home!!

Thanks Deb for joining us and fillinf out the form. Hope you can share alot of your southern knowledge!! All of you that have done it can probably direct me to excursion ideas to add to the webpage for easy access.

Well, we aren't going after all. :worried: Tina, I sent a message about the tour; best of luck with everything.

:beach:
Have a great time everyone!

Southwest is a good option. First no luggage fees ! They just started offering direct flights to San Juan from Orlando and Tampa. I put in a dummy date for Oct. this year and found rates for 139.00 per person. I never can find good flights/ rates from Myrtle beach. I think we will probaly drive from here to Orlando and catch the direct flight. Even with the driving it will be cheaper then getting a flight from Myrtle beach to San Juan. The difference for us is instead of 7 plus hours flying will be a 3 hour direct flight from Orlando. Am I crazy in that thinking ? :confused3 We have time on our side, doesnt hurt to try and do some research now to figure out the cost for next year.

I don't think you're crazy. I think driving down and flying out of Orlando is a great idea. You'll save money and time flying. It's an easy drive from Myrtle Beach to Orlando. Plus you can spend a day and do some Mickey while you're there, even if you just go to Downtown Disney for the day.

I have seen this done on other cruises I have been on and thought we would try it on this thread. It's a way to pass time and get to know each other while planning for this great cruise !

Every Monday we could ' ask a question ' and spend that week discussing it. We can take turns asking the questions every week. I will start and somebody else can come up with a question for next Monday. :goodvibes

This weeks question..........
Which ships have you been on and do you have a favorite one ?

My answer........We have been on the Wonder, Magic, Fantasy. We are partial to the Wonder. We were married on Castaway in 2004. We liked the Fantasy but felt it was too big.

We love the Magic. That was our first and it's our favorite. We have been on the Wonder and the Dream too, but we have not yet been on the Fantasy. One day we will get there.

Hi Michelle....thanks for adding me to FB. I will be as helpful as I can remember......senior moments and all AND it has been seven years. We did all DCL excursions. I think my favorite of all DCL cruises was swimming with the sea turtles in Barbados. I would love to do that again. On St. Kitts and St. Lucia we did some bus tours of the islands.....very nice.....beautiful views. I remember steep mountains on St. Lucia and looking out the window of the bus and seeing steep drops down. It was a little scary. If I can help anyone who has questions, just ask away....I'll do my best!

Some of you may know Karen and Ted and Alex from the West Coast. They are planning on booking this cruise too. They are, "BeenToMarcelene". You'll see them on here soon! They are also very good friends with me and John. It's just going to be one big party onboard this ship. Lots of old friends and new.

So many new people! Welcome everyone! I have two cruises coming up before this one but shhh I am most excited about this! :lmao:

A big welcome to all newbies! Hi Deb! Champagne girls! Awesome! Please tell us more :goodvibes

This will be our 6th cruise. We have been busy planning our upcoming Oct. 2013 cruise on the Magic.

We haver only been on the Magic and the Dream. We consider the Magic "our ship". It just feels more like home to us. The Dream is beautiful and has awesome bedding but it just feels a little too big. We really got a workout delivering FE gifts lol.

I will admit I am more excited anout this cruise than our upcoming one. :thumbsup2

Hi DisneyDiva.....I was thinking about having one, but we only have one sea day and everyone will be doing Palo. So I really don't think our itinerary is going to let that happen. I'm just not sure. What does everybody else think about it? Should we try to do something on our one sea day? I'm not sure how many people would be interested.
