Wednesday April 3rd was another day at sea. I can't find my dang Navigator - so I can't remember exactly what we did! We were busy throughout the whole cruise. My older DS did not get really involved in the Lab - he went a couple of times. Mostly he hung out with us, at the arcade, or he would go and see a movie on his own. My younger DS could not be dragged out of the Club! He had a great time. DH & I went and saw the last 1/2 of Disney Dreams - neither DS wanted to go. We felt really guilty because I know my younger DS would have loved it!
We played Bingo every chance we got and didn't win a dime! All of those darn people from Chicago were winning!
At Key West we cancelled our scheduled Western Union Day Sail. With all of the rough weather we decided we didn't want to do this. We spent the day wandering around Key West. Went to the Shipwreck museum (which was very informative) and did some shopping. Ran into Plutojudy and her DH at Margaritaville at lunch time.
This was our formal night. DH had a tux which he wore for both semi and formal nights. On the semiformal night I only saw one other tux at our early seating - however there were a few more going into the late seating. On Formal night there were many tuxes. I never saw any really in-appropriate dress at dinner. Some choose not to wear anything but resort casual - and if I had to do it again - while I loved seeing my DH in a tux I probably would have just gotten a navy blazer for him to wear instead. I had a black halter dress for semi formal and a dark green full lenght gown for the formal night. I probably could have just brough the halter dress - but I did enjoy getting to really dress up!
Castaway Cay was WONDERFUL! The weather was perfect! We did our snorkling eary - as someone advised on this board. We were very glad that we did! The water was very clear and the fish were everywhere! We spent about an hour snorkling then got a little tired and cold so got out. Had lunch at the BBQ and the boys played on the equipment out in the family swim area. DH & I went to the Heads Up Bar and tried the Conk Coolers (I'm hooked - by the way). We were walking back to the family beach area where the boys were swimming when we ran into our tablemates. They had bike rentals included in their excursion package and offered them to us as they weren't going to use them. So DH & I biked out to the adult beach. It's been a while since I went biking (like YEARS) I do ride horses on occasion but it's just not the same - so picture DH & I who do not ride bikes much trying to avoid running over pedestrians, not get run over by the tram and MOST IMPORTANT not spill our Conk coolers on the way to the adult beach!
I have to recommed at least a short trip to the adult beach. There were only a few people out there. The water was about knee deep and crystal clear. We could see live conch's and huge star fish - there were several small jelly fish around to so you need to be careful. I'd also recommend wearing watershoes (aquasocks) or the like to protect your feet.
We made it back to find our kids (they didn't even miss us!). As we were getting ready to return to the ship, one of the families that had the lounge chairs behind us were complaining that the jellyfish in the snorkle area were horrible. They had to swim around and under them constantly and had in fact been stung and cut short their snorkle. So if you are going to do this do it EARLY. The jellyfish seem to get stirred up by all of the activity and there is lots of turtle grass on the bottom for them to live in. I cautioned my family to avoid getting into this or diving down and stirring it up for this reason.
Well - we were sorry to leave the ship. We had another week in Orlando to enjoy but we are already trying to figure out when and where to take the next cruise.
IMHO - the crew of the Magic went above and beyond to make this an enjoyable trip for all. We were a little dissapointed about not being able to get to Grand Caymen but I knew that this happens at times. Our servers and room steward were wonderful and set a high standard for any future cruise servers/steward to meet!
We enjoyed meeting everyone from the DIS!
