Hello everyone. I have loved many of your great trip reports on Dis and thought I would make an attempt. My son and I had a truly magical trip but most people I know just don't get it. I know you disers will understand my plight. :goodvibes I have been on 8 disney trips since 1972. I truly love Disney and will continue to go back as much as possible. Jim also loves Disney almost as much as I do. Reading these boards helped us so much. Thank you.

cast: me, elisa age 41
my son, jim age 17 (I will try but I am lazy when it comes to caps)

Day 1 Sunday, June 18th

We drove from Mass to Disney straight thru, 23 hours. We both are fine in the car so driving was no problem. Listened to my sons Ipod and some Dane Cook.

Day 2 Monday June 19th
Had to stop at a Cracker Barrel for breakfast we don't have them in mass.
We arrived in lake beuna vista at 11:30am, totally beat. Checked in to Comfort Inn on Palm Parkway right near DD. But this is only a rest day so we nap to about 3pm then go to DD. Had a sandwich at Earl of Sandwich, try the All American with turkey, cranberry sauce and ranch dressing, yummy. Went back to the hotel early to get ready for Disney. :cool1:

Day 3 Teusday June 20th

Yeah! Today is Epcot and check in POR.
We arrived at POR about 8am and I requested AB near food court. She then look at her screen and gave me B14, second floor. :cool1: I was so excited I think my son was a little embarrassed. You can just feel it when your at a disney resort, the magic was starting. Cast members are smiling and we are just starting our Disney adventure.

So we head to Epcot our favorite park. Entering the park was a magical experience. I just kept saying, "I'm so happy to be here." We managed to get there by rope drop and we all walked towards Soarin. By the time we got there it was already about a 20 min wait but we went on. It was great especially the first time. My son had been in April with his band and chorus. He got to play right in Tommorrow Land. So he had already been on and was psyched to be able to show me all the stuff I have never done since my last trip was in April 2004. We headed to test track and fast pass. Then ride MS, only orange team for us its awesome. As we walked to EEA we heard a lady say to her family, "we won't go on that MS its the death ride." My son and I laughed about that the whole trip. We see Ellen's Energy Adventure which we both enjoyed for the first time. We rode TT, which I say is always a great ride.

By now we are hungry so we go to WS and have lunch at Cantina(Mexico). We spilt the combo plate because tonight we have ressies at Le Cellier. Its really hot so as we walk we go into every ac place we see. At Japan we bought White Rabbit candy which are chewy and very tasty.
Tried to see Maelstrom but the ride was down for a while so we left the que.

As we are driving back to POR I suddenly yell oh no. I had left our special home pillows at the Comfort Inn. Thank goodness we got them back. :cloud9: We got back to POR about 2:30 to get our room. We got room`1452. It was really nice. I love AB last time I stayed at POR was in 1994 and we stayed in mansions, too stark not as nice, IMO.

Back to Epcot for Le Cellier which was wonderful, especially on the DP. I loved the maple filet and my son loved his filet risotto and creme brulle. It was an exceptional meal. The best we had. I have to agree with alot of you out there, we will be back. We watched Illuminations from Mexico, Cantina. We had a table and shared with a couple from Canada. But we were dissapointed the globe wasn't working right. No images on it at all. We had taken the bus even though we had a car cause we wanted to see. It was crowded and took way too long, will use the car for rest of trip. Having a car is so nice. We got back about 10:30. A very magical first day. night night.

Up next Day 4 MK, Chef Mickey's and the Poly...

Great start! It reminds me of the trip I took with my parents when I was 16. We drove straight through from Texas and I got to help drive - only problem was I had never driven a conversion van...then it started to rain...then I had to go over one of those 20 mile long bridges over the swamps of western Louisiana…at 3 AM. But we survived, had a great trip, and created lifelong memories.

Excellent start ~ Can't wait to read more.

elisa88898,
It does my heart good to hear about your mother-son trip. My son is turning 30 in '08 and we will be taking our third trip to Disney together. Of course somtimes we go as a family, but these trips with my son are so special. We just take our time (I am getting old now) and enjoy all the sights and sounds of the one place we enjoy more than anything. As I read your trip report I can't help but think of him.

Great start on your report. How wonderful that your son enjoys Disney with you :cool1: my son can take it or leave it and now that he just turned 18 I think he will be leaving it more often :confused3 Now my girls that a different story :cheer2:   :teeth:

:) I'm back. This takes so long to do. I am such a bad typist. Thanks for your comments. My son is just awesome. Just a sec to brag. He works as a pizza cook at my Dad's pub and is on The Nat. Honor Society and likes to spend time with his Mom. Yes he is real. Hopefully I will be able to figure out how to post pics. He will most likely figure it out in a few mins.

An early wake up call from Mickey and Stitch to get to Chef Mickey by 7:50. We drove the car to TTC then the monorail to CR. Wow it took forever, we should have driven straight to CR or taken the bus from POR. We were about 15 min late but the family on the MR with us were over 1 hr late. Chef Mickey's is the best breakfast buffet ever. We loved everything we tried. :cool1: Our waitress was good but she had one of those fake perma smiles. When the guy at the next table wanted something he would just yell it in her vicinity. My son and I laughed because we could see through her perma smile that she did not like this guy at all. It was so funny, she was setting the next table and she was slamming the rolled silverware on the table with her fake smile as he bellowed at her. :rotfl: Definately try it when you go although its very loud. We payed OOP because we wanted our TS credits for dinners.

Magic Kingdom
I love walking through entrance and seeing Main Street and the castle. Ah to feel like a kid with all the warm memories, it's just great. Instead of going to TL as always, we went right to SplashM and BTMR. Splash is so fun, we bought the Happiest Celebration CD which has the music from it. I can't enough of some of the songs. We rode all the rides we wanted to with little or no waits. Skipped Stitch ride both of us are not interested. We did use FP for Splash, Space and Buzz, it saves so much time. COP is one of our favorites and has been open every time we come. :cool1: TTA is also a great rest, diversion and the lights were on in SpaceM. We tried but couldn't get a good pic. We shared chicken fingers from Cosmic Ray's. They were good. :thumbsup2 We are saving up our CS credits. We had ADRs at Kona for dinner so we wanted to save room.

We went back to POR to rest and try out the pool. We had left mousekeeping a $4 tip and were happy to see lots of fan thingys and a toothbrush holder. They did a really good job cleaning too. The main pool wasn't very crowded and was nice. I really love POR its so beautiful. We saw bunnies and ducks. All the lush greenery is so calming after a day in the parks. And B14 sure helped too, so close to everything.

So we head out in the car for dinner at Kona but check out WL on the way. What a great hotel. I would like to stay there. (along with every other deluxe) Kona was just ok. Maybe I expected too much. I liked the atmoshere and our waiter, but the food wasn't as good as I had read about. I had the Mahi Mahi it was very different, but not to my taste. The torte that everyone raves about was very dry with very little lava middle. The coffee was great. My son had teriyaki steak which was good and the apple cobbler. We will probably try O'hana next time and maybe Kona for breakfast.

After dinner we went to the beach to see the water pageant and the fireworks. Make sure you bring bug repellent. I always get eaten alive. It was real relaxing until the bugs got me. the fireworks were beautiful. The Electric light pageant was cute and fun to see. The Poly has a great feel and smell, maybe some day I can stay here again. (I stayed here as a child with my grandparents.) Back to POR to sleep.

Tomorrow it's AK, Everest and cinnamon rolls from the Tusker House.

I am really enjoying your trip report. I am taking my son on his first WDW trip this year. He will turn 5 while we are there, and I'm looking forward to many future trips with him. I sooo hope he will still want to go with me when he is your son's age. Thanks for sharing your memories.
