Magical Memories, I'm planning the sequel already! UPDATE: 9/13

Hey just joining in! popcorn::

I'm so sorry to hear about your sister, thats just too young for someone to be dealing with all that :guilty::hug:

Glad to hear your vacation got off to a (basically) good start! Some of your 1900 Park Fare pictures aren't showing though! :confused3

Like your TR so far, your son is a cutie pie! Can't wait to hear how a Grand Gathering goes! DH and I have stayed at POR before, such a pretty resort!

We loved 1900 PF. Anastasia danced with DH. They were all over DS3 because I had him dressed up like captain hook. :lmao:

Your DS is a cutie:lovestruc

Yeah, it was tough to deal with for all of us at first, but she is truly an inspiration. She lives her life like any other 24 year old would and gracefully deals with the side effects of her disease.

Our vacation started off stressful, but still enjoyable and the stress of Day 1 made the rest seem very relaxing, even though they weren't always (more to come!)

I think I fixed the pictures. Hopefully they stay because I could see them the other day, then they weren't there. Maybe this time it will stick!

Thanks...today's his 3rd birthday. I can't believe he's already 3. Right now he's watching one of his new heroes, Buzz Lightyear, thanks to this most recent trip. He's enthralled. He's eaten an entire tuna sandwich and doesn't even know it.

Thanks! We really enjoyed 1900 PF too. The sisters were so funny together. They argued about whose headpiece looked more ridiculous. Drizella kept asking Anastasia if she was going to flip pancakes :rotfl2: and Anastasia kept telling Drizella she looked like a rat. They were hilarious! Then, Lady Tremaine came and put them in time out! :lmao:

Wow, it's been a while since my last post! Things have been CRAZY here. DS had a birthday, work has been pretty busy, and we had some family obligations, but I promise, I haven't forgotten!

I did try to fix the pics from 1900 PF in my last update. I hope that they stick this time.

My last report ended with us leaving 1900 Park Fare and returning to the resort. What I forgot until further down in this post (I am coming back up) is that my sister and I took what we thought would be a quick ride to Publix to buy some snack food for our rooms and I wanted some yogurt and other faves of DS's. Well, that short trip was over 2 hours because we ended up looking for a Publix that didn't exist in one direction and then turning around and going in the complete opposite direction for a bit before we found it.

We got some water and soda, yogurt and string cheese for DS, some fruit cups for DS, and a 1/2 pound of Boar's Head chicken breast. DS will eat this and it's a better choice than the other non-healthy food that he eats. Food is a struggle with him always. We seek out the healthy food that he will eat whenever possible. After finally returning to our rooms, I finished unpacking and hit the sack.

I'm definitely starting my vacation on the wrong foot because it's only mty first official night in Disney and I'm already going to bed knowing I'll be exhausted when I wake up. I had hoped to get to bed early because the next day was going to start early and end late. It started very early for me because I had to check out/check in because our 4+3 deal started on this day so we had to pay for one night out of the package.

I woke up at 6:30 a.m. and showered an got dressed for the day. DS woke up so I asked him if he wanted to take a walk with Mommy and he responded with a resounding YES! We left, allowing DH to sleep for a little bit longer. The plan was to meet in the parking lot at 8:15 so we could take off to EPCOT and be there when the park opened.

DS and I took the nice, short, and leisurely walk to the front desk to check into the resort again. They were lovely, and prompt. I wanted to add charging priveleges to our room but didn't bring my credit card. I didn't need it the day before to do this so I didn't think I'd need it this time. But, my mom happened to call my cell right then and she was heading down to do her check-out/in too so I asked her to swing by my room and pick up my c.c. from DH. She did, they gave me our new keys with our meal plans and park tickets on it and we were finished checking in!

Back to the room again to pack our cooler. DS was only 2 and with his food allergy I had decided to buy some food and bring him some things to snack on in the parks. Besides, it's healthier than always having hot dogs and grilled cheeses!

Everyone met in the parking lot almost on time (the underlying theme of the trip much to my disliking). We got in our cars, headed over to EPCOT and did make it there before the park opened.

***Side Note***
My parents did not go to EPCOT because they were heading to the airport to pick my sister up. She had a bridal shower the night before and was going to meet us at DHS.

*****

We had no problem getting on our first ride of the trip: The Living Seas with Nemo and Friends. I wish that I could say our first ride was a great one but I thought it was kind of stupid and it terrified the kids because a.) it was really dark, and b.) they recognized the scary characters from Nemo (the fish with the light bulb and the shark).

I guess it was cool how they put Nemo and Friends into the actual aquarium, but I was hoping that the ride would be a little more exciting. I was not expecting DS to say "Mommy, I want to get out of here right now!!!" with terror in his voice. It made me sad and therefore, I did not like this ride.

(Please don't tell anyone, I think that's the first time I said that about Disney)

Our plan was to hit up Turtle Talk with Crush but it was only 9:15 and the first show was at 9:40 so we walked around and looked at all of the fish. When it was finally time to get into Turtle Talk we got our seats and waited.

I have seen Monsters Inc. at MK and had a great time so I was looking forward to this as well. I will say, it made up for The Living Seas. We had a terrific time Duude!

Our plans for EPCOT involved The Living Seas, Turtle Talk, and Spaceship Earth. We were all a bit hungry at this point so we decided to go to Sunshine Seasons before heading to Spaceship Earth and then to DHS. I got a yummy cinnamon roll, DS had some chicken from the cooler. When we were all eating, I had asked everyone if they remembered Living with the Land and the hanging cucumbers. They not only didn't remember, but they thought that I was crazy. So, there was only a 5 minute wait, those who didn't use the restroom at the aquarium used the one by Soarin' and then we got in line. Guess What!

DS fell asleep (another reccuring theme of the trip). Right there in my arms while we were in line, he was out cold! So, he missed the entire ride. It was very much like I remembered, although when I didn't see the hanging cucumbers I began to question my memory. Just as I was about to hang my head in shame for not remembering, and just before I got the "So, where's the hanging cucumbers?" question from my sis and aunt, there they were. THE HANGING CUCUMBERS.

I don't have a pic because DS was still asleep and I tend to not take pics of the scenery anymore because I feel at home...I forget to.

As soon as I saw the cucumbers, I hear the following:

My sister: Aw, shoot! Mary, she was right, there are the cucumbers!

I giggled, responded with "I can't believe you all don't remember this" and we went on our way. Funny thing, the 0 minute wait for Spaceship Earth when we got to the park was now 45 minutes so we decided that it would probably be too dark for the kids and we skipped it! It was time for DHS!!!

Okay, well, I'll give the DHS update tomorrow! It is more exciting than EPCOT, I promise!

Hoorah! An update! Very interesting beginning. I can't believe DS was asleep already! I think I remember you saying he slept a lot in the stroller. :rotfl:
Can't wait for more. I hope this week goes better for you.

Happy belated Mothers Day.

Dont the kids sleep in the funniest of places. When they are tired they are tired. DS3 slept through all of Fantasmic. Didn't wake up until we were leaving the stadium.

Thanks! Yeah, he sleeps wherever he is whenever he is tired. It's really great because I have NEVER had to worry about nap time!

Happy Mother's Day to you as well!
It really is amazing. You'll be seeing lots of pictures of him sleeping in this trip report...and his father (that's where he gets it). They can both sleep wherever they are!

Hello Michaels Mom.... we need some more updates:surfweb:

sorry! I've been completely MIA and I apologize. We are going through some MAJOR budget issues at work and they are cuttting 27 teachers in my district (about 25% reduction) and we've been at meeting after meeting. Okay, so I'll start an update now :o)

Okay, so apparantly May 19 is the day after May 10th. I know I promised an update on DHS and got kind of swamped at work but here I am.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We left EPCOT later than we planned and I was really beginning to worry that we wouldn't get our Fastpasses to TSM but we just sort of enjoyed our morning at EPCOT.
Image07.jpg
My parents were there with my sister who had just flown in that morning (I believe I told you the story of her having to delay her trip due to a bridal shower. So, they were enjoying breakfast at Starring Rolls when we all showed up. We met her there, I collected all of the park tickets and took a walk over to TSM with DH and DS and couldn't believe what I saw.
I did get my fastpasses, but for 6:15-7:15 P.M. It was 11:30 A.M. But hey, at least we got them right?
So, after we got the passes for TSM we headed back to Starring Rolls to meet up with everyone else. They were just about finished with their coffee and we set up our game plan. We really didn't do DHS as best as we could, but we were all still getting used to being together. Nobody wanted to step on anyone else's toes by making decisions so it took us longer to tour than I had hoped and expected. We went to see the Little Mermaid, The Great Movie Ride and then headed on over to see The Muppets. When we left the Muppets, who was there? None other than Lightning McQueen and his pal Mater. Now, my son is a huge Thomas the Train fan, but if anything comes close, it's Lightning McQueen and Mater!!! We HAD to stand in line to meet them. It was so awesome to see how excited DS was to be standing next to Lightning McQueen.
Image14.jpg
After our turn with Lightning McQueen was over, DS began his first of several crying fits. He didn't understand why he couldn't stay with Lightning McQueen. So, I distracted him with the toy cart. BIG MISTAKE because all I did was create a new obsession. The Dinoco helicopter with Mater inside. It's battery operated and Mater says things like "Whooeee, I'm happier than a tornado in a trailer park" and "Hey, I'm flyin'". We told DS that if he wanted it later we'd go back and buy it, but right now we had to go find Nana. He agreed, though not happily.
We met everyone at Pizza Planet for a quick lunch and mapped out the rest of our afternoon. All of those without children decided to head over to Tower of Terror to get fastpasses and they were actually able to get on with very little wait. My sis called me up and told me that some guy just handed her 2 fastpasses to Rock'n'Roller Coaster and asked if DH and I wanted to go on. Clearly, we did seeing as though this is one of DH's favorite rides so we headed over in that direction, she watched DS for us and we took a ride.
I always underestimate how much I LOVE THIS RIDE!!!!!!! I temporarily lost my earring (DH found it in the back of my shirt when we got off) and really began to have fun. I got to ride a grown up ride!
Once the non-parents got off of ToT and DH and I were finished with RnR the group split up again. My uncle, cousin, and cousin's girlfriend decided to go back to their rooms to relax for a while, my mom took my little cousin (5) to see Beauty and the Beast, and we all took our time and went to the Lights, Motors, Action, Stunt show.
We really enjoyed this show and when it was over, we really didn't have much longer of a wait before our reservations at Mama Melroses so we used this as prime opportunity to use the facilities, freshen ourselves and the little ones up.
Our reservation was at 5:45 but I needed to do some fancy finagling because my cousins reservation was for 2 at 5:55 and I was hoping they could sit us together so I wanted to get there and ask. Guess what we bump into on our way over to Mama Melrose's.......you guessed it....the toy cart near Lightning McQueen. We tried to distract DS (the helicopter is almost 2 feet long) but it didn't work.
"Mommy, can I buy the hebicopter with my money?" Now how could I say no to that? You see, before we left for our trip, I told DH that I wanted to bring some of DS's money with us so that if he wanted something that we didn't really want to get for him he could use that. Now he's 3 and we didn't have this conversation with him. He overheard the one conversation that we had, but he remembered.
So, I took out his Disney Dollars and handed them to him. We walked up to the cart, I told him to pick what he wanted and bring it to the lady. He did just that and then handed her his money. He was so happy. And, the helicoper that I expected to be around $40 because we were in Disney afterall was only $20. Apparantly on sale.
DS was so proud of his new toy. He couldn't wait to show Daddy, Nana and Papa. Mama Melrose's was just around the corner so when we got there everyone was waiting accept for my uncle and cousin and cousin's girlfriend. Now remember, I need to go and talk to the hostess, but I know that we need our entire party present so we just had to wait.
Here are some pics of us waiting...
DH taking a quick nap (he really was asleep)! This might explain why DS slept so much :rotfl:
I'm still waiting Uncle Russell.....
Here's my cousin with his girlfriend and my mom.
So, as you can see in the previous picture, my cousin showed up with his girlfriend (and uncle). Now I can go in and use my powers of persuasion with the lovely Disney hostess at Mama Melrose's.
Will we get to sit together? Will we open and close a park on our first day? Stay tuned for more updates!
For some reason, I'm not seeing your pictures in the last post.
I'm really enjoying your trip report michael's mom.
Are you not seeing the DHS pictures of the 1900 Park Fare photos? For some reason, the 1900 PF pics keep unloading and all you see is the box with the red X. I've re-loaded them 3 times and I don't know what to do to fix it.
Thanks for reading. I'll try to get on to finish DHS soon!
The only photos I've seen are the ones by the pool.
Didn't see the Park Faire or the ones of the kids hanging out or your DH taking a nap, etc. Sorry.
Oh, okay. Thanks. I can see some of the PF pics when I look and I can see the DHS photos, but some of the PF pics aren't loading. Do you know if there's any way I can fix that?
:cool1: An update! And, I can see all the pics!
I can't wait to ride TSM. Did you ride? I know, I'm not very patient!:rotfl:
I'm glad DS got his hebicopter! He is very smart for a 3yo. What a wonderful time spending with the family.
Don't leave me hanging too long!
Yeah an update... but I cant see the pics too. Sorry to hear about all the cutbacks. Dh's school may have a layoff too, but luckily he has been there a while.
I know exactly the helicopter you are talking about:rotfl: Ds wanted that too. Both kids had $150(all from savings and my mom) each to spend and boy did they spend. But DS instead was interested in the Buzzlight year and Zorg action figure and by the time he saw the helicopter he did not have much money left. I was actually surprised that most of the toys were not that expensive considering it is Disney.
I think he's a pretty smart kid too...more than anything he's just so funny!
I think I have the pics fixed....for now. DS was crazy about Buzz too. He developed a love for Buzz while we were there (I'll tell more later in the report).
As far as the cutbacks...we found out today what the cuts were and I don't know where the number 27 came from...it wasn't that many, but it's still ALOT! We are having tenured teachers being cut which really stinks. The cuts could come very close to me so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :scared:
It must be just me, but I still can't see any pictures. But enjoying your report anyway.
