hi have any of you flown with virgin and used the magical express instead of mears bus from airport. How does it work? Do you get a confirmation through the post? and does the luggage go straight on bus or do you have to get it in the middle as in when you are in orlando airport you collect luggage and then put it on something else?

Hi Sarah

I love the ME from MCO. I would not consider using another bus/shuttle service instead.

You need to book with them directly if it hasn't been added to your reservation. If you booked through Disney directly you should have no problems getting them to add it on, but you need to check the current procedure for this as there may have been changes since last I booked last year.

They don't send anything out in the post anymore. All you do is when you get to MCO you give them your airline luggage tags (the ones they attach to your boarding pass) and they will collect it for you. Expect your bags to take between 3 and 6 hours to arrive at your resort.

If you prefer to collect your own bags for whatever reason you are free to do so and you simply take them to the ME desk with you when you check in there to board your bus. They will direct you to the correct line for your resort on the 'red carpet' and someone will come and get you from there when they are ready for you to board.

If you have flown through MCO before you probably know about the double baggage drop.

After security you collect your luggage from the first carousel and follow the signs to the monorail. You get to an escalator leading up to the monorail. This is the point where you either opt to take your bags or drop them on the second carousel as ME is in a different terminal. If you want ME to take the bags then you would drop them on the carousel. If you want to take your own you can still do this, or if you can manage, just take them with you. Taking them with you if it is possible will shave about 20 to 30 minutes off your wait for them on the other side.

Hope this helps. :goodvibes

thanks very much. that helps as its not really explain very well on the site. we didn't know if we were just being slow

Nope. You're not being slow. :) At least you knew about the second carousel. It is a rude surprise to some folk.

Hmmmmm.

I didn't know you could collect your own bags.

Can I ask for more info?

We are going next year as a party of 5 and plan to share a hire car. We need myself and my cousin as drivers. Anyway she is a super shopper and there is no way all of our luggage to and from the airport would fit in a compact car.

We had planned for myself, DH and DD to drive the car back. My aunt and cousin were planning to take a Mears transfer - after completing car hire paperwork.

We had discounted Magical Express as we didn't want to wait up for their luggage to arrive. Is there any way they could go, with luggage to Magical Express after we do the car hire paperwork?

Can it be booked for only part of a group?

Can you return to the airport at any time you want?

Thanks, as usual.

I can't help with car info and don't know if you can book ME for part of your party, but I collect our bags and take them with. We want a change of clothes after a quick shower on arrival. As for getting them up the escalator - well I havent managed that but will be packing cleverly to do it this year.

Thanks. Might give them a ring tomorrow. I see the pick up it at Terminal B - is that a long walk to get to?

They dont do this for international flights you need to collect your own bags.
They only collect bags from domestic flights.

There was no option for us to leave our bags to sort out-dont know if thats because the computers were down and we were bussed (eventually !) to another part of the airport.

I thought there would be big signs showing you where you go for the ME but there wasnt at all, I had to ask a rep who was standing by the 2nd luggage carousel where to go.

Apart from that it was a good service and I'd use it again.
