I noticed on our tags the letters in the mickey ears say "EC" and friends of ours say "YC" does anyone know what that means?

I would guess YC means Yacht Club

EC maybe for Epcot.

What resort are you stayin at?

and they say AK and then All Star Movies - maybe it is a routing signal - since the park that my resort is closest to is Animal Kingdom???

Yes, that is how it works.

Some resorts are considered Epcot resorts, some are considered Magic Kingdom resorts, etc

You might cross post this on the Transportation forum, maybe someone there (who doesn't post here) would know the answer.

I don't have an answer but I can say that we've used DME 4x now with no real problems.

Last time we went we stayed at Saratoga and I think our tags had SS. For out next trip we are booked at Saratoga again but are on the wait list for Beach Club. DVC told us we could get switch pretty close to our arrival date. I asked about needing new tags for ME and how would we get them. They said it didn't matter. When they scan the tag it's encoded with whose bags they are and where they are staying regardless of the letter codes.

But that is odd that the tag codes are different for you and your friends, even at the same resort.
