Magical Express

Does anyone know how early you are picked up at the resort to return to the airport via the Magical Express? Also, vice versa??

When we arrived we went right to the DME counter and within 20 minutes we were on the road to Disney
When we left they picked us up 3 hours before our flight----They will leave a note to let you know what time to be waiting for the bus.

About three hours in advance of your flight. Our flight home was at 6:05pm, and ME picked us up at our resort at 2:55pm.

When we arrived in Orlando, there was a bus waiting. I don't know if that's usual, but the lapse from getting off the plane to being on our way to our resort was about 10 minutes. We were very impressed!

The official line from Disney is 2.75-3 hours ahead of flight time. Each resort has 2 DME pick-ups per hour, exactly 30 minutes apart. So some resorts have pick-ups at :00 and :30, some at :10 and :40, and some at :20 and :50. So while the exact number of minutes between scheduled flight time and scheduled DME pick-up may vary, it'll be darn near the 2.75-3 hour mark.

And by the way, in case you read about DME changing to 4 hours in advance of flight time, that was a TEMPORARY condition that already passed; it was in the day or 2 or 3 after the foiled UK terrorist plot hit the news. 4 hours is old news, no longer accurate.

I'm so glad to hear it!! We got our ME stuff a couple of weeks ago and it said that we had to be ready 4 hours in advance, but we were planning on going to MK that morning. I was not looking forward to sitting at the airport for an extra hour instead of at MK! Thanks for the info!

What is the sad song they play on the way to the airport? I read it somewhere, but I can't remember it! And on a happier note, what do they play on the way to DW? It'll be our first time using ME and I'm excited about it!

We have had the Disney infomercial both ways. The one going to your resort has Mickey and friends getting ready to head to WDW, then they are on the bus and then checking in. then they head to the parks. That kind of thing. It runs about 20 minutes or so. For the return, it is the reverse..Mickey and his buddies are sad they have to leave etc.
