I wasn't sure which forum to put this in, transport or disabilities, so please excuse me if I chose the wrong place!

I have just booked a trip for a month's time, usually when we come we hire a car however this is a bit of a budget trip so we are using Disney transport.

This is the first time I've ever used DME and I just wanted to know how it works with an ECV? I can transfer no problem. Where will it go? will it be in with the luggage?

I'm still not 100% sure i'm going to bring it, i'm hoping I will be well enough to manage without. I booked DME without pre booking the ECV so if I do decide to take it, how to I let Disney know?

thanks for all your help

If you decided to take the ECV you should call DME at (407) 939-1936 and let them know in advance. Not sure how far in advance they need to know it but I'd assume you should be fine with 24 to 48 hours before you arrive.

I have brought mine several times and used the DME. I just drive my scooter to the bus and then the scooter is put down into the luggage bins. Just remember to take the key with you. I had one of mine accidentally break off in the scooter. I have never let them know that I will be bringing my scooter and there has never been an issue.

The first post on page 2 of this thread is about DME.

One thing to be aware of is how steep the steps are to get into the DME bus. (There is a picture on the post on that thread).

If you can make it up the steps, there is no reason to contact DME early; you will be no different than other guests.

If you choose to use the lift to get onto the bus, you will want to notify them ahead of time so they can send a bus with a lift. They can provide one if needed without you calling first, but it may take longer to get one.
They do have 'loaner' wheelchairs in the underbus storage compartment you can use on the lift to get onto the bus.

Thank you so much everyone for the replies, you have really helped set my mind at rest on what to do, I was having a minor meltdown last night. Off to read that thread now xxx
