Magical Express - What would happen if...

I know that Magical Express states that they don't do luggage only transfers but what would happen if you booked Magical Express, checked in your baggage when you board your flight and then just not take the Magical Express and rent a car instead?

Would the baggage still make it to your resort based on the fact that it was tagged or do they somehow correlate that to whether you checked in for your actual ride on the Magical Express motorcoach?

Just curious.

I would just take them yourself. I don't see any significant value in letting DME take them.

The value is that you don't have to lug them around yourself. This means a lot when you have babies/toddlers/strollers, etc. already to worry about, and don't want to also be hauling luggage. As a single parent with a young child, I found that service invaluable.

I assume you don't use the RAC service also. If there's no significant value in DME handling your bags, there must not be any in letting RAC move them.

It also saves 30+ minutes of time waiting around at baggage claim. Every time we've had to get our own bags, it seems like it takes forever there. Much faster if you can walk off the plane and head straight to DME.

Except that DME is not a luggage transfer service. It's expected to be used as designed. It'd be highly unusual not to have to wait for something at MCO: the DME bus, luggage, rental car...
