I have been doing some research, but still have a few questions - any help is appreciated.

#1 - no more than 4 stops before reaching your resort, right?
#2 - can you claim your own luggage and take it with you on the DME bus and get it off when you get to your resort?

Thanks!

#1--Usually yes. I pretty sure that when we took it late at night one time, there were 5 stops. We were the 4th at the All Star Music, and I'm thinking there were still people on the bus, probably going to the Sports, when we got off.

#2--Yes. Though you are supposed to tip the driver $1-$2 dollars for each bag that he has to put undeneath the bus. I have to say, for me Disney handling the checked bags in the best part of DME. You save lots of time at the airport by not waiting for you bags. And it it always wise to pack whatever you need right away into your carry-on bags anyway. Just in case the airline misdirects your luggage.

#1 - I don't know, we have always been the first or second stop.

#2 - I agree with the pp. Not getting our luggage is the best part of ME. We make sure we pack enough stuff for the first day/night in our carry ons anyway since you never know if something is going to happen to your luggage (and if the airline does mis-direct it, ME will start the process of finding your luggage for you - more time saved).

I'm probably going to take my bags by themselves. Last time we went they delivered our bags like at 2AM and that was when we arrived in early morning that day.

No one can know for sure, but if the delay was that long its almost certainly because the airline delayed your luggage. If that was the case and you had tried to retrieve your own luggage from the carousel, you would have been stuck in the airport for an extra hour filling out paperwork.

1. Usually 3, sometimes 4, rarely 5. I have used DME more times than I can remember.....I have yet to have a ride that included more than 4 stops.

2. Yes, you can get your own bags at baggage claim. Just remember not to put the yellow DME luggage tags on them when you leave home. If you put those on, your bags won't get to the public baggage claim area...they will be pulled as soon as they come off the plane. So, leave the tags off the checked bags, and get them yourself at baggage claim. Then bring them with you to the bus area. The driver will stow them beneath your bus. Remember that the driver will expect a tip for handling your bags. As will Bell Services if you have to leave your bags with them if your room isn't ready. Yes, gratuities are supposed to be included, but that is when DME handles your bags, not when you get them yourself.

#1 - I don't know if that's an expressed guarantee. We arrived during a busy time and they only had two resorts on our bus. So unless you are arriving at a very slow time, they may combine more resorts but then again if you're arriving at a slow time, you probably won't even have a full bus.

#2 - Yes you can, we usually do this just because we want our bags right away. As PP said, you should tip the driver for handling your luggage but that goes for the people who have the driver store their carry on bags too, even though they haven't brought their checked luggage on the bus with them. If you want to claim your own luggage, do not put the yellow ME tags on them. Also just a warning - once you claim your luggage at the bag carousel, you then have to go upstairs, across the airport, and then back downstairs to get to ME. If you have multiple or heavy bags, this could be very inconvenient.

Regarding the bolded... this is only the case if you have an airline arriving on the 'A' side. Those with luggage pickup on the B side simply need to get their luggage then go down one level.

True, I didn't think of that. We always fly SWA or JetBlue and end up on the opposite side.
