I tried tons of search options, but can't find an answer. TIA

We are going to WDW in August. I have made our reservations and ADRs. My kids now are begging to go to Harry Potter. I thought I would add a day to our reservation and go to Universal. I think we would stay at the Hard Rock and take advantage of express passes.

We would then have time to go back to WDW before our flight the next day. Could we take DME back from the airport, even if we have checked out the day before?

No.

If you have already checked out of your Disney's resort and don't use DME that day, then you must spend another night at a Disney's resort in order to take DME back to the airport on the new checkout day.

Why would you have to go back to WDW??? Why not just go directly to MCO?
Your resort reservation is tied to DME. If you have checked out, you can not use DME the next day. It is good only until midnight of your checkout day.

Check with the conceirge (did I spell that right?) at Hard Rock Hotel; that's what they do.

You need transportation from WDW to the HRH and from the HRH to MCO. You're complicating the issue. No reason to go back to WDW. Even if you could take DME you'd be saving very little money.

You can rent a car. Pickup at WDW and drop off at MCO. You'll have to pay to park at the HRH.

You can also book a car service. Probably cost $100-$110 for both legs. Price for a taix would be similar.

If you time your US trip right, you can take advantage of Alamo's weekend rates, sometimes as little as $15.00 day, but you must have a Sat. over night car rental to qualify (pick-up on thursday, must return Monday before 12:00 noon). You can pick up the car at the customer car center (CCC) which provides a free shuttle from your Disney Hotel. You drive the car to US, then return at MCO. Weekend rates usually come out 90 days ahead. My suggestion would be to make a back-up reservation, then keep an eye out for Alamo's rates. We did this on the last 2 trips and it saved us quite a bit of $$$.. Good luck.

Good point, but do the numbers.. Two day rental is probably going to be close to $50 with the fees. Two day parking at the HRK is going to be at least $30. Add a couple of dollars for gas and tolls and you're close to $90.

A rental car, even if the OP is able to get that great deal, isn't going to save much over a car service.

edited to add it looks like the OP is a family of 6. I don't think they'll be able to get a car big enough for their family and luggage for $15. I checked Alamo's website. A mini-van, premium SUV, premiun crossover, full size SUV and luxury SUV are the only vehicles that fit 6.

A car service makes the most sense. A towncar won't fit 6 with luggage. Look for a service that uses an SUV or mini-van.

Thanks everyone. I thought we would have time to hit a few attractions before our late flight. Adding a day to the Disney ticket would be $4, adding a day to the Unversal ticket would be $$.

We planned to use the DU package that includes a shuttle service. That way we could return to WDW, spend the day, then use DME in the afternoon.

I have 8 in my party, so a rental would be expensive.

We would have to use two taxis, so that can get expensive.

I might have to reconsider squeezing in HP. Thanks!

The point is transportation from HRH to WDW is going to be almost as expensive as transportation from HRH to MCO.

You could spend your departure day at the HRH.

Use the pool. What were you planning on doing with your luggage if you got transporttion back to WDW and sepnt your last day in a park. What time would you get to a park and what time would you have to leave for the airport. Going back to WDW doesn't make much sense.

You need to find a car service that has a van large enough for your family. Try FL Tours, happylimo and murray hill transportation.

Two rooms at the HRH. Transportation to the HRH. Transportation back to WDW (more likely MCO). Universal tickets. HP is going to be expensive.
