Magical express or Lyft

Piggybacking on my last post, you noted recently that you have kids, so I'm guessing that's at least 3 travelers total. If there are 4-5 people in your party, you'll have to get a Lyft XL which is generally $10 more than the standard Lyft (not sure if Uber has the same restrictions on # of passengers right now).

Thanks i didnt know that. Yeah there's 4 of us total plus luggage so im assuming I'll need an XL...maybe bump the 30 bucks up to 50 lol

Plus tip. You do tip don't you? I usually tip the Magical Express bus driver, when we get our bags.

I know you get your own bags now from baggage claim, not a big deal. My question, what happens when you get to resort? Do we wait for the driver to give us our bags, or can we just leave knowing they will be delivered to our room? Or bell services?

I would imagine it works like it always has with on-bus bags. The driver pulls them out, you claim them, and you either take them with you to your room or store with bell services if your room is not available yet.

The driver asks where you are staying and loads bags together for each resort. You get off at your resort and the driver pulls out your bags and hands them to you. I will add that at pop we arrived to cheers and clapping by the employees and someone from luggage storage was right over to take our bags since our room wasn’t ready yet. He said they would be in our room when we returned from the parks and sure enough they put it all in our room for us. Also we were first to board the ME and they seated us in the very back 2 seats. The bus filled quickly with everyone separated by a row or 2 of empty seats. Pop was the first of 4 stops and we were the only ones on our bus staying there.

If you need to clear or reclear customs in Orlando, the process is the same as clearing customs prior to reaching Orlando. At the customs station in Orlando you may normally put your bag on the other conveyor belt and then the Magical Express rules apply.

Once in awhile the customs agents demand that you carry your bags out of the customs station and onto the airport tram, or demand that you put your bags on the other conveyor belt and re-reclaim than at the carousels if it is after 10 PM and Magical Express baggage delivery has stopped.

No Magical Express luggage delivery now even if before 10pm.

You can get approximate prices for both Uber and Lyft at rideguru.com. However, both companies use dynamic pricing, so prices can vary a good bit. One time one will be cheaper, the next time the other will be cheaper.

My suggestion is to have both apps on your phone and price check every ride in the Orlando market. When you enter your destination into either app, you will get a very accurate fare quote. I would also check both for promotions.

In many places, Uber has many more drivers so their pickups will be better, and they are also often less expensive. However, Orlando is a very saturated market and you will have quick pickups with either company and pretty good fares.

I have a ridiculous attachment to that stupid bus. 🙄
I would set up a tent and camp out in line before I would take an Uber/ Lyft.

We used Magical Express for our Disney trip last year. Thought it worked out great. Made if feel like more of a vacation and let someone else worry about the route/parking......etc. and there was no additional charge for using this service. It wasn't a race for us to get from the airport to our hotel, but perhaps everyone has their own idea how to enjoy their vacation.
