Does anyone know if I book magical express for our luggage but we don't go on the bus and pick up a hire car whether or not this is allowed??

They wont do that - you have to take the bus.

The luggage tags arent posted internationally so you have to go to the ME desk to get them to collect the bags on the carousel but they will only do that as you load on to the bus.

However only one person needs to take the bus to get all the luggage delivered.

Last year me and my DD took the bus with most of the luggage and DH and DS picked up the hire car, which was consequently much cheaper than precious 7 seaters we have hired as we didn't need the space for luggage. Worked fine. Saved about £400 on the hire car. Job done. Me and DD got to the resort before the boys.

For obvious security reasons, they won't load your bags on a bus you're not riding on.

One of you will need to ride on the bus with the luggage.
You'll need to take them to the DME counter then at the foot of the bus.

Sorry to hijack OP it seemed sensible to post this here rather than start a new thread - can we only take ME back to the airport on our check out date or would it be possible for one person from our booking to take it on an earlier date (if they needed to leave early) then the rest of us take it on check out day? :goodvibes

We tend to all ride the ME as we are tired an no one wants to drive, then a day or two later we pick up our rental car (Alamo) from the WDW Dolphin....take bus transport to Epcot, then walk through to the Dolphin.

You can use ME one way but it does need to be prebooked.

Untreated by me.... Is it quick? Do you have to wait long? Is it always full?

It's about a 30 minute ride from the airport to Disney property.

Your wait depends where you arrive in the bus loading sequence. We have waited anything from 10 mins to 45 "mins before leaving the airport.

Never been on a full bus yet but I would guess they could get full at peak time.

I did it this year as I hadn't booked a Virgin Holidays package and it was much better, quicker and more comfortable than the shuttles VH use. I'm travelling with TCD in November and I tempted to bypass the shuttle as last time I used TCD I was waiting nearly an hour just to get on the shuttle and go straight with DME, it's free and simple to book online.

You can also take a bus to DHS and walk or get the boat to Dolphin from there, if you don't have a park ticket for access to walk through Epcot :)

thanks for your help. Good to know that we can just go one way. :goodvibes

MDE is a great service IMO so this is not knocking it. I use it and like it. It is a lottery re wait times and bus capacity though. I've been on a bus and out of the airport within 10 minutes of hitting the DME desk and I've waited an hour. I've travelled on nearly empty and full to capacity buses. It's 30 minutes at it's very fastest if you are first off. 40 to 45 minutes is more usual and it can be up to an hour on the way back due to loading suitcases on three times. So if you're resort is first, you've got at least 20 minutes stopping at two other resorts.

If you only want it one way (coming back), just be sure to speak to the front desk at your resort to check you are all booked on.
