If I'm renting points to stay at a DVC resort, can I use the complimentary DME? What about with resale purchase? I know that with out the blue card, membership extras will not be available.

I'm thinking about renting points to stay at DVC resorts and go resort hoping for about five days. Then I can decide if DVC is for me and which resort. I might not even visit the parks.

I don't plan to leave Disney property so I don't want a rental car.

Your owner has to make ME reservations for you. Make sure you notify them (or broker) as far out as possible.

Just a thought on resort hopping (assuming conditions allow): monorail resorts and CCR/BRV can be done in one day. Get to MK via bus where you can get a boat to CCR/BRV and back to MK. You can then get on the "resort" monorail and tour those resorts returning to MK to bus back to your resort.

Another day, take a bus to The Studios and then walk or take the Friendship Boat to Boardwalk area resorts. Skyliner to RIV. Bus back to your resort from The Studios or spend the day at EPCOT entering through the International Gate and working your way to the other end of the park where you can get a bus later on to your resort. Enjoy a bit of Disney magic and get some good eats on the way!

AKL is more of a challenge. You may want to get a bus to DS in the morning and then transfer to an AKL bus and back. Jambo House is a must. Boma for a meal if they are open! Perhaps that is a good DS day in between?

With five days, you can go at your own speed. Plan your meals around the resorts you will be visiting. Enjoy!

To be crystal clear: DME is not a DVC benefit or associated with the card at all. It is resort-wide for all.

DVC members pay for access to DME via dues, and anything supported in dues cannot be restricted. (Cash guests pay for access to DME via resort rates. In both cases it is a hidden cost, and not a line item in the invoice. Everyone pays in even if they do not use it.)

Just link your DVC reservation confirmation number to your MDE account and you can book DME yourself.
