Is the Magical Express ending soon. Also, do the airline agents go into the All Star hotels as they do to the AKL

The current arrangement with Orlando International Airport is through 2011, but there's no reason to believe that Magical Express won't eventually be extended beyond 2011.

All Disney-operated resorts at WDW are served by Magical Express, and they all have Resort Airline Check-in (RAC) counters. The airlines don't have their own employees at any of the resorts, but the RAC counter provides boarding passes and luggage check-in for RAC-participating airlines. See the sticky item, "Disney's Magical Express - What 'Participating Airline' Really Means!" near the top of the DIS Transportation Board thread list for more details.

I can't get the search to work but I thought one airline (Airtran?) is only available for resort check in at the deluxe hotels and at CSR.

I don't know if this was a test or if Disney is considering only offering complimentary RAC at the deluxe hotels and CSR (convention hotel).

In December I quickly placed a call to airtrans toll free number and was able to check in - it was probably faster than waiting in a line in the lobby (which I couldn't have done anyways.....)

The advantage of checking in at the Resort Airline Check-in (RAC) counter is the remote skycap service. You can not only get your boarding passes but you can also check your luggage through to your home airport.

At this time, according to the Disney's Magical Express FAQ, RAC is available if you are flying domestically on one of the following: Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Continental, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, Northwest, and United/Ted.

I've read on this board about some limited testing with AirTran, so AirTran might join the list this year.

The RAC counter hours are 5 a.m. - 1 p.m., and they can only offer the service an minimum of 3 hours and a maximum of 12 hours before the scheduled flight departure.

But there is no assurance that Magical Express will remain free except until further notice.

No guarantee here, but all you have to do is look at how busy the parks have been at WDW since ME started. I do not believe they will ever charge for the service the way it is set up now. JMO
