Magical Express after rental car return

I have a question in regards to the magical express...
We will be staying at 3 different Disney Resorts for an upcoming vacation...and during this time we will have a rental car for part of our 10 day trip. My question is after I return the rental car to MCO, can I take the magical express back to our Disney hotel (by scanning our magic bands) or will I be required to take an Uber from the airport to get back to our hotel? (I don't mind taking an Uber, just trying to figure out what we need to do.) We won't have the rental car for the last 4 days of our trip, so I was just curious if we could take the magical express to get back to our hotel.

Yes. Each guest staying at a Disney resort is entitled to one round trip between MCO and their resort. You do not need a flight to take advantage of the transportation. The trips must take place during the period of your reservation, so the MCO to resort trip you describe should be booked using the reservation number for the resort where you will be staying at that time. Might be best to call MDE directly at 800-599-0951 to book the transport, although there have been reports of just arriving at the MDE counter at MCO and scanning a Magic Band without an MDE reservation.

There are several rental car companies on Disney property. If you can return your car onsite it would be much easier. Of course it depends on the company you rented from and if they have an office on-property. Or you may want to change your rental to one of those companies.

Pretty much every carrier has a spot in Disney Springs. We would often rent a car for 1 day, pick up at airport, grab a ton of groceries and drop off at disney springs when we were done. We liked Alamo because it was right next to the DS Marketplace boat launch. Most do not charge a penalty for returning to a different location.

I tend to use Alamo. I can either rent, or return our car at the Car Care Center, or the Dolphin (when their counter is open, not sure if it at the moment due to Covid). If you return at the CCC, they can then drop you wherever you ask them to.
