Magical EBTA 2016

Miranda
You have to have 10 post to send or receive private messages. Just post in this thread until you have 10.
I am also there... lol

So, I'll make this one another question, what are everyone's plans for Dublin? We are thinking of taking a cab to see the Book of Kells and then Guinness and Jameson on our own too. No tours. Has anyone done both in one day? I read that if we buy tickets online before we get to Dublin we don't have to wait in line?

So, dumb Disboards newbie problem. I think from what I am reading, I cannot open a message from you until I comment so many times? Is that correct? Sorry, off topic, but I do not know what I am doing on here yet.
In order to start a private conversation, you (as well as the person you wish to converse with) must have at least 10 posts. Once you've gotten your 10 posts, it does take the system a little while to recognize it and open that option to you (typically 30-60 minutes). Once it has, you can start a conversation by clicking on the other person's avatar or username and clicking the "Start a conversation" link you see there.

Hi. I finally have 10 messages in but I cannot read what you sent me, it seems to be gone now. Can you try again? Thank you.
You have to wait until you can see "Start a conversation" when you click someone's avatar. If you don't see it, the system doesn't recognize that you have 10 posts. Once it does then you can see your conversations.

I have sent everyone links to their FE group. If you have signed up, and NOT received a link from me TODAY, please message me.

Hi - This is our fourth Disney cruise and we never quite understood how guests randomly received gifts in their FE's. This trip, we really wanted to figure out how to participate for our 5 year old, but still not sure how to sign up. I'm reading posts on this thread that the FE group is already closed??? Is there a chance of being added? I had no idea the group would close so far out from the cruise date.

Has anyone explored the charter bus transportation option in Dover, that tours a castle on the way to London?

With losing an hour each day at sea, does anyone have a recommendation on dinner seating time? It seems early seating is usually the most popular, but wondering if that will be the case with losing an hour each day at sea.

Where do we sign up for FE? It's my first time on here and I'm lost! Thanks in advance!
I'm having difficulties figuring out what to do with the FE also? I'm reading the sign up is closed, but also read it's not posted on this website. I have no idea where to look???

If anyone needs to know more about disembarkation at Dover and transport links it's all on my trip report here

And on the accompanying blog, here.

I live within an hour of the port, and in London. There are maps of transport to from Dover, and whilst there embarkation videos, they will give you a good idea on layout and the terminal, and disembarkation photos and breakfast menu.
Great information! Thank you

For anyone who has cruised the ETA cruise in the past, is there a huge change in weather conditions somewhere in the middle of the cruise? In other words, do you pack for summer and winter or more like summer and fall?

I'm in the same boat...trying to post 10 posts, so I can find out more about FE. A friend of mine told me the best thing to do in Dublin is get off the boat and walk, walk, walk to see and experience as much as you can in the short period we're there.

The Picketts
Quick Question - Since the Fish Extender closed today - When can we expect to receive our listing for our FE group? I want to get started on wrapping up my FE Gifts so I can focus on my planning since I have this cruise and the Norway cruise.
Thanks
Lynn
Do you find the FE group information on this website or a different website? If it is already closed for this cruise, then I'm bummed, but at least for future knowledge, I would like to know where to look for it.

We are on this cruise as well! It will be just DH and I and we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary. This will be our second TA. We did the EBTA in 2010 and it remains our favorite cruise to date...with Alaska as a close second. We are Platinum CC members (13 for me, 12 for DH), DVC members (OKW, HHI and BWV) and our DS works at WDW full-time. We'll probably go play in the parks with him for a few days before we sail.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

It will be nice to sail with another Michele-with-one-L. There aren't many of us around. :)
WOW...I'm Michele, with one L also. Crazy...there really are not many of us, and three on the same cruise?

We have signed up to do the Harry Potter/Warner Brothers Studio tour through International Friends tours. It picks us up in Dover and then goes to WB Studios, then to London. I just saw on their website that there is a Dover transfer to London with optional castle tour.

There is a Fish Extender group here on DISboards (sorry, can't confirm whether it's actually somewhere else and just advertised here). Anyway, it closed Feb 15. If there are new people who wish to do a FE group, they certainly can start up their own group. This might help:
SETTING UP A FE GROUP
It appears there are a number of you who are interested in a Fish Extender group. Here’s a little write up on how FE groups are set up:

There really are no “rules” as to how a FE program runs. Basically someone maintains the list of those who wish to participate. The group can decide on what information is necessary to produce FE gifts. A basic list may only have DISname/room number/number of people in the room. A more involved list could be first & last names/ages/room number/ favorite character/ favorite color/allergies/whatever is deemed necessary to know in order to create the gifts. Also a decision can be made as to size of FE group. Some groups break out the list(s) at 10-15 rooms max, so that there are multiple lists (and some people will participate in more than one list). Other groups just make one big list (upwards of 20-30 rooms).

The easiest, most private way to handle the information necessary to prepare the list (many people prefer not to put sensitive information on a public forum), is to use the “Conversation” feature here. There needs to be at least two people to start a conversation. Only the starter of the conversation (usually the organizer) can add additional people into the conversation (as long as they do NOT select “Allow anyone in the conversation to invite others” at the bottom of the reply window). Then when new people express a desire to join, usually by just saying “we want to join the FE”, the organizer can add them by clicking on the “Invite more” button in the “Conversation Participants” window (lower right of conversation page). Only those people participating in the conversation can see what’s posted there, and respond there. I will also note, to participate in conversations, everyone needs to have at least 10 posts. For those who wish to use this option for private conversations that don’t have 10 posts yet, head over to the Test Board to post and up your post count. http://www.disboards.com/forums/test-board.88/

Up to 20 people can participate in any given conversation.

At some point the list will “close”. Typically this happens 30-45 days out from the cruise, so that everyone participating has time to organize/prepare their gifts. Shortly before this time (about 2-3 weeks prior) the organizer will post the list, either directly on the Cruise Meet thread, OR via private conversation, or, possibility, via e-mails. This is to confirm everyone on the list is still participating. It’s important to make a statement about “anyone not confirming by XX date will be dropped” at this time. A little harsh, yes, but often there are people who will post on the cruise meet thread as soon as they reserve the cruise and say “I want to participate”, and are never heard from again.

Once the list closes, the organizer will post the final list. Also, a decision must be made as to whether to allow late additions. Sometimes there is a “pixie dust” list. That is, basically, a latecomers list that gets posted about a week out from the cruise that others may or may not add to their “final” list. Be sure the “pixie dust” list participants realize they may or may not get gifts from others, but are expected to provide gifts for the other FE participants anyway.

The other “biggie” is no other social media sites are allowed to be linked or search directions posted as to how to find that other site here on DISboards. Please read this: http://www.disboards.com/threads/im...uise-meet-and-fish-extender-programs.3353477/

As it seems there are a few here who would be interested in doing this, who’s going to step up and volunteer to maintain the list?
