MAGICal Christmas 2008 - December 20, 2008

I can't believe how close the cruise is getting. I am so excited to share this experience with my girls.:santa:

We have a busy weekend here. My baby (DD 7) is going on her first Girl Scout sleepover tonight. :sad1: I am sure she will be fine, but I am not sure about me.
Then we have tickets to HSM3 for Saturday. popcorn::
And of course the Phillies are playing. I am not a huge fan, but I have to root for them for my husband. We will see how it goes.

Everyone have a great weekend!!

Zachary got selected to play Santa in the school play, so he's going to be busy these next several weeks with rehearsals in the mornings. It's good because it gives him something to pay attention to so maybe he won't notice any of my cruise preparations!

Gas is under $2.60/gallon here, so I'm hopeful it will stay down and that will mean a bit of a savings on gas expenses for driving to the port.

We booked our room at the Country Inn and Suites several months ago. I was looking online at prices and saw it's gone up $5 if we were to book it today. Glad we got that rate in when we did. We're parking at the CI/S instead of the port. We're also staying at CI/S when we get back while we go to Kennedy Space Center for our post-cruise excursion.

My list-of-things-to-do at work is getting longer and longer, and at this rate, I'll be definitely ready to take a vacation! I've asked for two weeks off work for the holidays and included in that are a few days post-cruise at home. But one thing about the DCL cruise is that it will be relaxing, especially once we reboard after Cozumel - the rest is just rest, relaxation, enjoyment, pampering, etc.

I've been looking at spa appts again but think I'll wait and see what onboard specials they offer compared to what I could book online. I did sign up for the Metabolism Testing/body composition analysis for Sunday morning. The earliest time they had was at 9:30 and while we can get off at Castaway Cay earlier than that, I figured "what's the rush" since we have a 2nd day as well - and I figure that the boys will likely sleep in that morning, too. DH may go for a run on the island - I think that would be so cool for him. I want to get bikes and do some bike riding as well.

Does anyone know where we can find average water temperatures for Castaway Cay for December? DH and I have been discussing how warm/cool the water might be for water activities.

DH and I were going to book some spa treatments beforehand too - but I agree - I think we'll just wait to see what specials they have on say Cozumel day before we book our Christmas gifts to each other! :-)

Cindy D. Here is what I found for December in the Bahamas:
December
Rainfall: 2"
Temperature: high of 79 low of 64
Water Temp: 72

Angie,

Marissa got her letter. She was excited. She wrote back, weplan to put it in the mail today. Thanks!

Thanks for the weather. I was wondering. Cool here. Had a couple of days near freezing and our normal winter rain.

I know I should be working on something for this trip but can't think of anything - bad--really bad. Working to hard. Just got a phone call from Delta changing our flights. No big deal.

I can't even get a list together. Not like me at all. Badminton coaching ends Friday with a party but no sports this week until then.

ugggh

We were at the costume story today getting DD her costume for a party. We started looking at the Pirate stuff. I think that we all might dress up. DH might even dress up!!

I can't stop thinking about the cruise!

We got costumes today, too -- Nathan will wear his skeleton t-shirt from last Halloween with his POTC skeleton pirate pants from three years ago. He has a pirate cap and some skeleton gloves. We bought Zachary a regular pirate costume with the striped pants and the red cape thing and headband. I'm glad they decided to go that way because I'll pack their stuff up to take on the cruise for pirate night - They can wear their costumes if they want.

we are soooo dressing up. All 16 of us. Good news is my sister has to sew me a new costume. Last time I was an 18, now I'm a 12!!!! Worth getting a new one don't you think.

anyone need a larger size costume? It looks great, at least I did in it, if I say so myself.:woohoo: My son was a 12 kids now a small adult. Boy do they grow fast.

off to work at the scrapbook store

my brain is not functioning I work on lists but can't seem to get them together. Anyone want to send some lists to get me started?

I just spent the majority of today making FE gifts. I'm so ready for this cruise. I've got our door signs ready and just finished our packing list. Now i've got to go through our vacation box and see what we need. Hope everyone is having a great day.

I would love to get your costume. That is the perfect size for me, too. I have costumes for everyone else in the family (well, not grandma) except me. Can you pm me and tell me a little bit about it and how much you would like for it?

We have a child's size 7/8 Captain Hook jacket and pants if anyone needs one. We don't have the dickey that went with it any more, but a white shirt would work fine under it. It's really a bit small but marked 7/8 from the Disney store.

Wow! Everyone must be real busy. I just wanted to move us back to the 1st page.

Go Phillies!!! :cheer2:

That is soooo wonderful! I wanted to lose about 20lb for the cruise, but the scales have yet to move a pound. Of course I have not started doing any exercise. DH says that the eliptical was a waste of money!

I do the elliptical. Really liked it but I have lost very little since I started going to the gym...but I have repackaged all I have:lovestruc

oh man, we keep getting pushed off the front page!

I think we're going to put our Christmas tree up the weekend before Thanksgiving so we will have some time to enjoy it.

I have to decide what to do about a tree for the cabin. I have a teeny charlie-brown tree i use in my office, but I also have a four-ft tree we use when we travel. Somehow I think that would be too big for the cabin but the teeny one is too small. I'm also trying to figure out how in the world Santa will be able to fill stockings without waking up / disturbing the boys. Maybe we'll "accidentally" leave the stockings at home and they can magically arrive in a separate suitcase already filled that just doesn't get unpacked til Christmas morning before they wake up. These logistics are tough - I really thought they would've 'fessed up to knowing the gig, but since they haven't and since Zachary has already requested Guitar Hero for the Wii from Santa, well......................

My sister is having similar questions. when we did this 2 years ago we got a $5 tree from Micheals about 1- 1.5 ft. we decorated it on our first night on board. we filled stockings and I cut out pictures of the presents left at home and wrapped them in small boxes. I used things to represent the presents, pictures from mags, a mini toy guitar, etc and wrapped in jewlery size boxes. It worked great! Then they got the real thing to unwrap when we got home.

Hope this helps. Gotta go to work. Giving a test today on industrialization and immigration in late 1800 USA. Oh to be a history teacher. I love it.

Hey everyone! I've been off the last week or so celebrating Carly's birthday followed by a flare up of my fibro that had me in bed most of last week.

It's official in a year my baby will be driving! Where did the time go?

I've been thinking of the how to do the Secret Santa. Tell me what you think -- just kids? or are adults interested? one gift? or little things during the week? (that would be kind of like the FE, but for a specific person)

When all that's decided I thought I would have everyone intersted email their name and likes/dislikes. Then I would draw names and let everyone know who they are "Santa-ing".
