MAGICal Christmas 2008 - December 20, 2008

My furbaby Sasha (half Lab, half lunatic and all heart) had to have surgery yesterday for a skin tumor inside her leg. The good news is the vet strongly believes it is benign. The bad news is $1000 and having to wait for the biopsy results, to (hopefully) confirm it was benign. The other bad news is that this insanely active dog is now confined indoors till the stitches come out in 2 weeks.

Sigh. I'm not a happy camper right now. :sad2:

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is doing well. I started graduate school recently. With full time teaching and full time school I feel like I can barely keep my head above water. Take care everyone.

Hi everyone :) I really want to go on this cruise for my birthday! My birthday is on Christmas, so this would be really special for me. You see, I've never vacationed on my birthday; I'm turning 14! It'll be really exciting if I get to go. I'm trying to see an offer through Dreams Unlimited Travel! So, fingers crossed! Any other kids around here? Hoping to here from any!!

I'm not a kid, there are quite a few kids on this cruise. My birthday is on Christmas too, so there will be lots of celebrating going on! party:

Hehe, reminds you of the song "Celebration" doesn't it?

I want to go ever so badly, so fingers crossed! :worship:

I was reading on another thread and saw where we can call 888-325-2500 to find out what movies are playing when we sail. I made a note to call on November 30th to find out what will be playing when we sail in December.

I checked for our upcoming April cruise and one of the movies that is playing (College Road Trip) is one that the boys want to see so that will save me money here at home :)

I have a question. (My dh would say I am crazy because I am thinking about this kind of stuff already-but that is me:rotfl: )

If what I have been reading on other boards is correct then the formal night is early in the week but I was wondering if for our cruise they will make formal night on Thursday(Christmas). I want to get my girls a really fancy Christmas dress for that night. I guess they can wear it no matter if it is formal night or not but we are hoping for a really nice family Christmas :santa: photo. What is everyone elses thoughts?

We are finally entering some semi-spring weather but dd was home all weekend with 101 degree fever  so we did not really get to enjoy the weather. Maybe next weekend will be just as nice so we can have easter egg hunt outside.

We plan on dressing up Christmas night whether it is formal night or not. We dress up at home for Christmas it is some what of a tradition.

We have also been having some spring like weather it has been nice not freezing every time you step outside.

I'm really excited we are getting to go to WDW for my spring break to celebrate my B-day. We had planned a cruise but cancelled it because my brother and I's spring breaks were different. With him being out of school due to his injury mom asked if I wanted to go. Well duh!. Hope everyone is doing well.

Lissa

We have spring break April 11th through the 18th. I am so looking forward to this break. Even though I will have to bring my laptop with me and still go to school it is going to be great to get away for awhile.

Mind if we join you guys?

We were supposed to be getting on the Magic this morning for our Easter 08 cruise.. but do to our sons illness we had to cancel.

Anyway... sitting here waiting on the Dr. to call us back.. (Thankfully we are recovering but it was pnemonea in his left lung.)

But, looks like we are going to join you guys for Christmas 08!

Welcome Mike, Amy, and Justin -- sorry you are missing your cruise this week, especially due to illness - I hope your DS has a quick recovery. But how wonderful that you'll be able to join us for the Christmas cruise!

I'm Cindy D., wife to Gary, mom to Nathan and Zachary who will be 12 and 11 when we sail. The boys don't know about the cruise yet.

We're heading out next weekend for spring break which will include a 3-night on the Wonder.

(oops, Nathan just walked in so I had to close the window real fast!)

Thanks for the welcome..

This is actually going to be our second Christmas Cruise... the first was unbelievable... so we said what the heck and do it again. We actually haven't booked yet.. waiting on travel insurance to process through this coming week and then should be back on the booking list.

This year was really CRAZY... My folks were supposed to go with us.. but dad had a cardiac afab condition arise 10 days prior and then our DS became ill about 4 days ago leading to continuos bed rest.

Lesson to be learned.. NEVER book travel without travel insurance!!

271 days!!

I apologize in advance for the looong post.
Lot's of catching up to do. ;)

First of all...
Happy Spring to all and Happy Easter to everyone celebrating this weekend!

:welcome: Mike, Amy & Justin
Sorry about the reason you had to make the switch, but we're glad you're joining us!

Dee,
Looks like it's about time for the stitches to come out now. I hope Sasha is recovering well and the news is good.

Cindy and Lissa,
I bet you're both counting the days... or is it hours now before your spring break trips. Have a GREAT time! I'd love a report when you get back.

Anyone get good rates for this???

Good rates in general or good rates comparatively? ;)
I booked on the first day this cruise was released and it really has not gone up all that much (at least for the 2 categories we booked)

You can always shop around for TA's who are offering incentives. Ours put together a really nice deal for us, kind of a group promo of her own, even though DCL does not offer group rates/bonuses on holiday cruises.

Hopefully you'll be able to join us. Keep us posted.

From what I've read they do usually switch around if necessary so that formal night is on Christmas.

But have you guys seen the thread on the main board about new dining rotations? Sounds like that's specifically for the cruises out of CA this summer, but it will be interesting to see if they keep it when the Magic heads back to FL. At least there will be some other 2x at CC cruises before ours to get feedback from.

I hope your girls are feeling well and are ready for some fun Easter festivities this weekend. So how's the weather? Hunting eggs inside or out?

We do Upward Soccer too. We're practicing thursday for the first time. We just finished up the Cheerleading, I was the coach and it was a lot of fun. Someone how I swindled into being a coach for soccer, 10 4 year olds---what in the world was I thinking!!! :drinking1

Aww, you're a good mom! :thumbsup2
I love watching the little ones play. Hope the team is learning a lot and having fun with it.

DD just finished competition season for HS cheer. They qualified for finals at Nationals as the #1 team in their division, but ended up 5th after dropping one stunt and bobbling another. I swear I've never seen so many crying girls.
No tears from DD though... thank goodness.
(they were National Champions last year and they put so much pressure on themselves to repeat, especially the seniors)

Morgan,
Looks like the tech crew at the Dis needs to come up with a few more character smilies for you. ;)

OK, enough stalling on the Dis
Egg coloring project awaits.
