I am new to posting. I hope I am in the right place. I noticed that their is a military discount for 4 day tickets until Sept. 2012. I want to book a Magic Your Way package with the Dining Plan for next Sept. for a family suite at All Star Music. The ticket special says it can be used if you stay at Shades of Green or a Disney Resort.

My question is this: Can I book the Magic Your Way Package with Dining and use the military discount for the tickets? I wasn't sure if these things could be done together. It would really save me a lot of money though. Thanks.

Yes. It is not actually a discount it is a special military ticket. And you will not have a magic your way package. You will have a military package that will be room and dining ONLY. You have to buy the tickets from your base MWR/ITT, Shades of Green or a WDW ticket booth(if you buy them from a ticket booth you will need to pay sales tax). You do not need to already have the tickets when you make your room reservation, just tell them you will have military tickets. You will probably need to show a military ID at check in. You should also be getting a military discount on the room. :wizard:

Yes, you can do exactly what you are talking about, but if I were you, I would do the math first and see what works out to be more cost effective for your family.

You do have to buy at the very least a 2 day base ticket with the free dining package, then you could go to Shades of Green and purchase the Armed Forces Salute tickets tax free.

I am not sure if you were also aware tha tthere are room only discounts for the Disney resorts; 30% off at Value Resorts, 35% at Moderate Resorts, and 40% at Deluxe and DVC Resorts, you can then add the dining package without buying tickets, then purchase the Armed Forces Salute tickets at SoG or if you are close to an MWR/ITT office.

I am working on a similar situation for our January 2012 trip.

If you call the Disney reservation line and take advantage of their % off room discount, they will offer you the dining plan at a reduced rate (not much reduced but I've been told it's reduced). They ask that you buy only ONE MYW park ticket though. Then you go to your local MWR or ITTN office and buy your tickets. I've done it 2x now.

They are not asking about free dining. At least they did not state free in the OP. OP-if you are asking about free dining, then no, it is one discount or the other.

You do not need to buy any tickets from Disney as part of the military package. You just tell them you have military tickets.

I see that now, I guess I have it on my mind since I am trying to work out our trip plans that fall prior to and during free dining in January...LOL

disneywatcher the dining plan is NOT discounted with the Military Room discount. I have one of my nights prior to free dining booked that way and the DDP was not discounted, sure would be nice though.

We have booked the room only discount & paid for the dining and they do NOT discount the dining package, we have done this 4 times. We purchased our park tickets through SoG or our local ITT office. You should check and do the math..for us it came out to just about the same price give or take a few dollars..but other times depending on the time of the year etc, it may be cheaper like a PP said to pay for the room w/o a discount with 1 or 2-day ticket to receive the free dining...and then you can still purchase the 4 day tickets at the ITT/or SoG.

Thanks for the information. We were not looking at free dining. We don't even know if it will be offered in late Sept. 2012 yet. We did want to add the Dining Plan though. We have taken one trip to the World so far (five years ago), and the dining plan saved us a lot of money. I have heard that gratuity is no longer included, but I still think it will be good for us to get the DDP.

One more question, the one time we did take a family trip to Disney was in November. We are looking at late September next year. Has anyone had trouble with hurricane season that time of year?

I figured that out, I have had free dining and the military package on my mind and for some reason I saw free. No, gratuity is no longer included, with some few exceptions like CRT and the dinner shows. It can still save alot of money.

We have been twice in Sept (2008 and 2009) and never had a problem with the weather, although we did have a problem with the love bugs, they are awful, and this was the late Sept trip, don't remember them being around on the early Sept trip.
