Magic/wonder deck 2

so I have only been on the bigger ships and I am looking into a cruise on the magic. Deck 2 rooms are obv cheaper but being under deck 3 how much noise do you hear on top of you? I feel like being under all the bars and dining I figure it could be loud and that is why it's cheaper then the higher decks for outside staterooms.

We've been on deck 2, mid-ship on both the Magic and Wonder. I'm a very light sleeper and had no problems. Never heard any sounds. We will be on deck 2 on the Wonder again next March. I love being so close to the water.

My parents and I were in 2582 and 2584 and didn't hear anything above us in Feb on the Magic.

I'm currently booked in 2504 (or is it 2000 or 2500? I keep bouncing around between them all) on the Wonder this upcoming Feb and am excited about it. Most reports - especially for 2000 and 2500 - say that you hear mechanical noise when docking.

A peek at the deck plans lets you see what's above you so you can see how potentially noisy something could be.

We've only, ever, done deck 2 on the Magic and Wonder. We've been underneath the entrance to Animator's Palate, under Wavebands, under the passageway alongside Triton's/Lumiere's. Yes, you can hear little feet running (sometimes), but it's not loud, or often.

Even under the lounge, not an issue.

We had 2019 on the magic and there might have be a stairwell or something behind our room. There was constant noise. My husband complained and they moved us.

LOVE Deck 2 on the Wonder!! So neat being close to the water and sooooo convenient to everything. We did not hear noise above us. I would never hesitate to stay on Deck 2.

We were in 2000 on the Wonder a month ago. Loved the location (and the slightly larger room due to the curve of the ship), we did hear noise at night from the adult areas on deck 3, but we were still awake so it wasn't a problem. There was a door at the end of the hall (right outside our room) that the cruise staff used quite often, but it didn't bother us. If you have young kids or are a light sleeper that far forward may not be for you!

We've been in 2600, 2629, 2139 and 2141. The only one with any real level of overhead noise was 2600. I would use the deck plan to pick somewhere based on what is above you. 2600 had the kitchen shared between Cariocas and Lumieres. Noise was most noticeable last evening when we must have docked into Barcelona about 4am. I assume they were loading/unloading. The two directly under the restaurant (2139/2141) were great and I'd sail in either again. We've only ever sailed deck 2 aft!

We stayed in 2116 on the Wonder by the aft elevators--no issue with noise (the hallway to the promenade lounge was above us). We're going to stay in 2108 on the Magic for our next cruise, wanted to be a little closer to midship this time, but still near the aft elevators/stairs as it was so convenient the last time.

Thanks for the info we are light sleepers and have a 2 year old so I would have to carefully pick a room on deck two or pay the up charge for deck 6 it's almost 10% more.

We stayed on Deck 2 on the Wonder this past February. The room creaked like CRAZY!!! It was so bad, I barely slept the entire cruise!!! At first I thought it was from above in the restaurant, but then the last night realized it was the ceiling, walls, etc. It was really bad. We were room 2079...I do NOT recommend it at all.

We were recently in 2600 on the Wonder. Loved the room and didn't hear noise around us. Very convenient to restaurants, evening activities and to getting off the ship for excursions.

We've stayed in two different rooms on deck 2 on the classics (2050 and 2578) and my parents have stayed in another room (2552). They were all great rooms. We've book 2050 again for our next trip. We love deck 2. It's the perfect spot for us. We prefer the midship room with slightly larger portholes and we feel mid is more convenient and has less vibration and movement.

We've stayed in 2552 on the Wonder before and loved it so much we are staying in it again for 7-nights this October. More than the floor I suggest checking what is directly above and to the sides of the room you are looking at.

I was in room 2630 on the Wonder. I didn't hear feet above, but I won't do deck 2 again because of a separate issue. When docking, you will really feel the side thrusters. It vibrated the room and bed so much that I didn't need an alarm clock to wake up. So on port days I was more tired than normal.

Loved deck 2! We stayed there on the Wonder for the EBPC and will again for our WBPC next year. It feels very private and quiet yet close to dining.

We didn't hear any restaurant noise, either, though. It was a SUPER location. So easy to avoid the elevators for everything but Cabanas (note - we don't have mobility issues). However, I had a huge issue with vibration when the ship was really moving at night. I know others have as well, although I would also add that it seems we're not a majority of guests. Just from my family subset alone - I was the only one really disturbed by it. DH and my 2 kids slept fine, as did my parents. I was pretty baffled that they slept through it! I guess you're either really bothered, or you are oblivious, and there is little in-between. We are booked for Alaska next summer, and my parents wanted to stay in the same area b/c they really liked our stateroom location and thought it was a great value (comparatively speaking). We booked further mid-ship to try to get away from the vibration - 2116 for us and two other cabins nearby (additional family going). The add'l family didn't want forward, or I would have suggested mid-forward, and while yeah - we could have just booked rooms spaced around the ship, it would have upset the kids to be separated from their cousins.

I think you will be happy in 2116. We could feel some vibration in that room last summer, just enough to be aware of it, but not bother us. It was enough to make me realize I wouldn't want to be more than a room or two further aft than that. The room vibration was nothing compared to the vibration I felt in Parrot Cay and Animator's Palate--it felt like a 'magic fingers' seat in one of those restaurants! We loved being right at the elevator/stair entrance, so convenient, but no noise other than some people walking by in the hallway. We're going slightly forward on the Magic next summer, trying 2108, a cat. 9C room which is right next to a 9B 'midship' room.

We just completed a 12nt. British Isles cruise in Cat 9B cabin 2550. zero nausea. zero noise. zero vibration. Never even felt the thrusters when we docked. loved having the window to look out at sea and check where we were each day. these cat 9 cabins midship on Deck 2 really are the best kept secret on the Magic. You will not regret it. We've been on 8 Disney cruises and never had a lower deck cabin before nor a lg porthole window. I prefer it over the inside staterooms and highly recommend it for anyone looking for an alternative compared to the balcony prices.
