I've stayed at the French Quarter several times, and I can say from experience that the room safes are NOT large enough for any laptop I've ever seen.

All someone has to do is sneak in when they aren't looking, take a few things quickly and be out before anyone knows it. Even though they put the cart in front of the doors, you can still get by them. We had to do it once to our room and the mousekeeper never saw us.

I've taken my lap top every trip hasn't been stolen yet. I do put it away every time I leave the room. Since I'm a dvc member I don't get mousekeeping every day so it cuts down on the number of times people should be in my room. I will take mines again but I am investing in a cable locking device (very inexpensive at circuit city).

Castmembers came to our aid and disney gave him another one. Today, at Universal someone stole my son's refillable cup right off his wheelchair when he was on a ride and in front of castmembers! Again, catmembers came to his rescue again and gave hin a new cup filled. Geez, why steal a used cupwhat kind of morals do you have stealing from the sick and disabled...Gosh, my son can't defend himself!

Once when we were at ASSP they changed the bedding, and we had put down a crib sized waterproof pad for my son to sleep on (not 100% potty trained at night). When I realized it was missing I called Mousekeeping - thinking it would never turn up, it was white like sheets & not very big - and I didn't really care, I had more with me. They had it delivered to my room about 2 hours after I called! So for them to find something as inconspicuous as a small white waterproof pad, surely a stuffed animal or toy would be found quickly. Luckily, when my DD lost her cellphone on M:S, Guest Services had it in about 15 minutes - which was about how long it took her to realize she had lost it...![]()
) and had forgotten that I left my backpack on it. I didn't realize it until after I had left the arcade to head to the restroom. I am so thankful it was still there will all the contents. We had our video camera in there and my DH would have been furious at me if it was stolen. Prior to this, I always made sure to have that backpack with me anytime we parked the stroller. I remembered reading on these boards that someone left their camcorder in the stroller and it was stolen. I'm usually not the type to leave any valuables on a stroller unattended anyway.
. Unfortunately it's a sign of the times and even the happiest place on earth is not immune. I do thank you for sharing because I will be much more careful than I normally am. I think I've taken for granted for years that such things just didn't happen @WDW. Boy was I wrong.
Or maybe not...
