Does anyone have experience with room 8060 on the Magic and noise from deck 9? This is an upgrade for us and we don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth but if it's not restful we might try to change it.

I've read posts about pool chairs being dragged around in the early morning and it bothering people on deck 8. I'd like to know specifically about our room because it looks like it might be under the restroom and perhaps not as effected by pool goings on? Also how is the noise level on the veranda?

Thanks for your input. This is my first DIS post :)

when doyou cruise? we can let you know at the end of october :)

We've been in 8060 on the Magic twice, it's not a noisy as the rooms further midship. It's right by the forward elevators (also not really a noise issue) so it's under the adult pool area, no parents out staking their claims to deck chairs right by the goofy pool for the whole day.

We really liked it, booked it the second time intentionally, so enjoy!

There are two room reports for this cabin on the Wonder, which should be the same as the Magic. None of them mention a problem with noise. :disrocks:

Long timers may remember Dave's Disney Cruise Line Tribute page. Going to archive.org I found his list of the noisy rooms on the Magic/Wonder, none is on deck 8.

Are there rooms on Deck 2 that are noisy?

I had more than one question about the noise on Deck 2 while I maintained a "Let me answer your questions, 'live' from the Magic" thread on the DIS Boards during our 2001 Magic cruise, so I went down to Deck 2 and did my own evaluation.

First of all, let me state that, for the majority of the rooms, Deck 2 is very quiet and you should have no problem staying there. But there are some zones where staterooms are near loud mechanical equipment (electrical lockers, transformer rooms, a/c equipment rooms, ship's propellers, cargo hatches, etc.).

So with the disclaimer that "your mileage may vary" and that you may be willing to put up with the "dull roar" in exchange for a good fare, these are the rooms that are in noisy zones:

Port Starboard
2000 - 2004

2032

2036 - 2047

2078 - 2085

2094 - 2096

2114 - 2129

2139 - 2153
2500 - 2520

2534 - 2547

2586 - 2600

2626

2630 - 2653

Also, on Deck 1, you might want to avoid...

Port
1030 - 1037

1062 - 1064

The noise in these zones is not so loud that it would ruin your vacation, but if you are sensitive to noise, you would probably want to consider another room or be sure to bring earplugs to wear when you go to bed.

We were in 8060 on the Magic for the 9/7 NY-Canada cruise. We were located between the aft and midship elevators. We were probably just a bit closer to aft as we would run up to deck 9 to get beverages pretty quickly. The only time I heard any noise was when I was on the verandah, and it was very minimal. Great stateroom and excellent location.

8060 is a great room.. not noisy at all!! great location too!! :) ironically 8060 on the Dream/ Fantasy is great too!! Enjoy!!

8572 on the other hand is really really noisy... chairs scraping from the pool/ ice cream!!

Thanks everyone for the replies! I feel so much better hearing from people who've stayed in the room. Less than 6 weeks to go until my first cruise! Woot!

Our first cruise was in 2005 and we were in 8058 on the Magic, so right next door. We loved the location of the cabin in terms of easy access, but we did hear noise from Deck 9 whenever we were on the verandah, plus the ever-bouncing of ping-pong balls - which I think have since been relocated. We would hear the early morning set-up of the chairs / tables in the area and occasional scraping of chairs on the decks later in the evening (but not after bedtime).

Our next cruise we moved to Deck 6 and actually prefer it because the verandah is much quieter -- you're enough further below the activity on Deck 9 that you don't get the noise.
