Where does the Magic Kingdom come from Disneyland or Disney World?

I remember Disneyland being called the Magic Kingdom before Walt Disney World was built. Although Disneyland is the original Magic Kingdom, we refer to the park as Disneyland Park, and the one at Walt Disney World as The Magic Kingdom. (though, I sometimes still call Disneyland The Magic Kingdom)

I'm watching The Haunted Mansion film and trying to figure out what mansion they use from the park haha.

Magic Kingdom began at Disneyland in the 50s and 60s. I even belonged to the "Magic Kingdom Club". When WDW came along, they needed a name for the park equivalent of Disneyland, so they called it the Magic Kingdom Park. ANd by the 80s, DIsneyland was no longer referred to as the Magic Kingdom. So, today's terms, Magic Kingdom is part of WDW.

Disneyland's nickname was, and still is, the Magic Kingdom, or Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom.

When the first Disney park in Florida opened, it needed a name, and it was given Disneyland's nickname, though it's just Magic Kingdom, not THE Magic Kingdom or Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom.

Just watched "Saving Mr. Banks" this past weekend and in it Walt says "Welcome to the Magic Kingdom" to Mrs. Travers as she gets out of the car at Disneyland.

I could be wrong but I assumed MK at WDW was simply called "Walt Disney World" until Epcot was built, and then it was referred to as MK to differentiate it from Epcot.

Disneyland. It was Disneyland's nickname before Walt Disney World was built. That's why they named the original WDW park Magic Kingdom. It's also why CMs and announcements at Disneyland sometimes refer to Disneyland as "Walt Disney's original magic kingdom."

It opened officially as Magic Kingdom in 1971. But most people just referred to it as Disney World until Epcot opened.

As other have said, it comes from DL.

It is confusing, but all Disney resorts in the world have a Magic Kingdom anchor park. They are all loosely called "Magic Kingdom". You can ride the DLRR and hear DL referred to as "the Magic Kingdom".

As others have pointed out, the park in WDW officially goes by the name Magic Kingdom. So it has kind of co-opted the less formal name used for all the other parks.
