Magic Kingdom To Grand Floridian Walkway!

Hopefully someone will confirm that this is true or not, but I think the maintenance & repair dock for the ferries is on Bay Lake, north of BLT. If so, a bridge over the water bridge would have to be way too high to be practical for pedestrians or any kind of traffic. That’s why there is a water bridge over the roadway!
Well, that's why I said "it would have to be pretty high" (to clear the ferries). Keep in mind the monorail goes over the water, so any pedestrian bridge could be at that height.

Now, how are they doing the path going to GF because don't they need to clear the water where they store the water parade floats? Or did they move the float storage?

They've got a swing bridge for the GF path. In regards to a WL-CR path, I think a lift bridge would be a good option, with the "low" position high enough for the shorter regular boat traffic and the "high" position about monorail height.

I think that in any case, the height would be too much for pedestrians. If a lift bridge, the lowest position would have to be high enough for the boats that travel from FW & WL to cross under. They travel that water bridge too frequently - it would have to be up all the time.

They can actually get the river boat of MK all the way to that 'boat yard'

How, the train tracks are in the way ......

there's a swing bridge!!!!

They talk about this during the behind the scenes tour of the trains . . . .

River boat is seen here at the 'intermediate maintenance facility' which is beyond the swing bridge, but does not have
equipment to actually 'haul out' the boat for bottom maintenance (dry dock). This equipment is at the main boat facility.

how to get the river boat to the 'haul out' facility ....

Interesting - I’d forgotten that (we took the train tour ten years ago).

So that’s another vessel that uses the water bridge by the CR, although it's unlikely that pedestrians would want to walk from WL to CR at the times the riverboat is crossing.

Maybe a pedestrian bridge over the water? Obviously it would have to be pretty high.

There is already a sidewalk that runs along the road as it goes under the waterbridge. The sidewalk ends just as it passes under the monorail beams between the waterbridge and the TTC. So there is no need for a bridge to over the waterway connecting Seven Seas and Bay Lake.

Yeah a lot of the walkway already exists. But I wonder if Disney doesn't want people to walk under the bridge because people would be very close to lots of traffic.

I think this is the issue. It would probably be difficult to make it safe for pedestrians. I don’t think the roadway under the water bridge has been widened since built in the late 60s but might be wrong - anyone know?

This is a Google street view picture going from Contemporary/Magic Kingdom towards Wilderness Lodge. The walkway looks pretty wide (and they could add a railing), but it's on the opposite side of Wilderness Lodge. So if they wanted to use that existing walkway, guests would have to cross World Dr. to get to that side.

They could put up some railings. We have bridges with walkways that probably carry more vehicle traffic than World Drive does.

That looks impossibly tight to allow for a railing, buffer to prevent vehicle mirrors from striking pedestrians, and two-way stroller or wheelchair traffic.
