Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

This is great insight. I may have to seriously consider the tower. Having a legit kitchen with our toddler could be very nice.
The studios (both the OG and Tower) have a partial kitchen, not a full one. The Tower deluxe studios have a small dishwasher, the longhouses do not. Both have a small sink, mini fridge, toaster, and microwave. Plus Keurig. But no stove top or oven.

Having a fridge and dishwasher and lots of seating is what I liked. No not a full kitchen but room for baby things. Also the cubby adjacent to dining spot was great for convenient storage.

I appreciate the photos from the deluxe studio in the tower - it looks like a nice room. I apologize if this has been answered already, but do all the deluxe studios (tower) have balconies?

No, the Island tower is not very large and the hallways are not very long. The elevators are basically in the middle of the building. Leave off near the lobby or then you will get the 2nd floor. The elevators are right next to the lobby.

I assume if you like to take stairs over elevator that there are direct stairs from lobby to each floor? I am staying there in March and my husband and I always love a lower floor so we can take stairs. However, if the monorail is really loud I will ask for higher. We always prefer the longhouses because of just going up easy stairs.

Yes the Tower Deluxe Studios, and even the (2) Guest - Tower Duo Studios units all have a balcony. The Duo Studio units do have some very creative balconies especially on the 2nd floor. They basically overlook the flat roof of the front portico.

At the Polynesian Resort, all DVC units have a balcony.

Monorail is not noisy! I was on 3rd floor parking lot/resort view and it was quiet.

I did take the stairs in between floors to explore the garden viewing areas in the tower.

Latest from the air credit to @bioreconstruct, crude overlay added by me, of the front entrance/bus station reconfiguration work underway. We can see a new bus structure taking shape. The old entrance will eventually become a bus only entrance/exit.

The stormwater permits showed one bus station structure (which matches what we now see erected) and three bus stalls.

We are annual Poly goers and always stay in a longhouse studio with our very specific requests (2nd or 3rd floor Tokelau, NE facing  ). This year are trying out a 2 bedroom resort view in the tower for the first time. Any particular request we should make - or are they all pretty much the same?

In terms of the longhouses, Aotearoa and Tuvalu still waiting on their roof recoating (you can see their brighter orange color vs. the others a darker brown), a project which seems to have slowed to a crawl. Presumably the GCH will eventually get the same roof treatment as well.

IMO, "high floor" would be my only request. I don't think it really matters all that much, personally, but never hurts to be higher up.

I have the 1 bedroom Tower booked for a week in October but I need to add a day on the front of my trip. What is the likelihood that it will come available? I check multiple times a day and I am really worried that it won't come available? Do they release more rooms between now and then? I realize I have 8 months before travel but I also realize those 1 bedroom Tower rooms are scarce!

There should be at least 1 more declaration, possibly 2 more before your trip, depending on what is declared you should have a better chance than not. Plus at 7 months there should be movement for PVB owners moving resorts to try different locations.

Thank you so much! There’s another family we were supposed to travel with, but they are going to cancel which I wanted to take over their reservation, but it’s not allowed to transfer lead guests and I doubt very much if he cancels I will grab it in time before someone else gets it

Disney’s Polynesian Resort Bus Depot Gets Roofing

The new bus stop at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort now has a layer of roofing. The walkway alongside the bus stop is now open, so we got a good look at the new structure.

The stop is approximately where the old one used to be, but it has a new roof shape that dips in the center. It has gray supports, but these will likely be painted brown to match the rest of the resort.

Corrugated paneling now covers the roof, which was just a framework in our last construction update. We saw a crew member working atop the roof during our pass on the Monorail.

There is still a lot of dirt around the bus stop. Eventually, this will all become a road again.

Some areas have already been repaved. The caution tape in the above photo appears to be around a rectangle of fresh concrete.

The resort’s former roadway entrance off Seven Seas Drive will become the new bus entrance. For now, buses are entering along with cars through the new Floridian Way entrance and dropping guests off at the porte cochere.
