quick math tells me it cuts it pretty even, no discount at all, we don't order drinks just water so we will not use this
We bring brita water bottles with us. We are big water drinkers. Its a must in the heat.
Exactly! Those that never even took a peak at the MK menus before their visit (they exist!) will be fooled into thinking that this will save them money.I don't think this is for most people on this board who plan ahead. However, to the casual 1-day guest who hasn't planned their day as carefully, it's a suggestive sell that tries to get them to do some planning when they buy their ticket.
I'd trust my DGD. SHe has had access to a credit card since she was 13, and now is linked to her father's. She would never use it in a way that was not approved by her parents.
I got excited this morning when my DH started reading the headline and I heard the word "affordable" and the time frame includes our upcoming visit.
The price is the deal-breaker. When DH read the price my response was, "That's not a deal" This will appeal to some who really aren't "Disney-savy", I guess. Personally, I prefer water to soda or other sweet drinks (its not just about saving money) and my DD16 and I will be splitting QS meals bc neither of us are huge eaters (as far as volume). Also, one of our MK days includes a BOG lunch ADR.
I feel like this would kind of "force" you to choose a meal that would be of the most expensive menu options just so you can make the plan worth the cost. After 3 trips using Free Dining, for this trip I'd rather be flexible with my dining. If I want to have a fruit and Nutella waffle from Sleepy Hollow as my lunch then so be it! LOL
So, going to pass on this.
That's a great strategy. We just carry around empty soda bottles to the parks to fill up with water from the water fountains. I don't mind Orlando water, but Brita bottles would still make that water a lot more palatable though!
We brought water bottle insulated carriers too. That way we can be hands free and have cold water handy. We just fill up at QS. We dont do this to save money, I find excessive pop drinking is really unhealthy and a bad idea when it is really hot.
If it "appears" to be reasonable, it locks in folks to longer hours in the park,
My guess is they hope 5% of the people who purchase get distracted and never use both meals.
1) But, the major advantage is for Disney.
2) If you note the hours, this makes non-DDP people eat during hours when the eateries are less crowded.
3) Let's face it, Disney does nothing for the guests unless it highly benefits Disney.
what are these insulated carriers of which you speak and how do they keep you hands free?

What's your reasoning for saying that? I don't see that at all in the 'rules':
- One lunch quick-service meal* that includes one (1) entrée and one (1) non-alcoholic single-serving beverage (may be used only until 4 p.m.)
- One dinner quick-service meal* that includes one (1) entrée and one (1) non-alcoholic single-serving beverage (may be used from 4 p.m. until close)
It only restricts lunch to before 4pm, and dinner to after 4pm.
No, the time restriction just effectively prevents you from buying one meal plan and splitting it with someone to use at the same time. One of the goals, it seems, is to keep you in the park longer. But the verbiage is troublesome to me. RIght now the prices are the same for before 4 and after 4. Will the QS restaurants now start having a lunch menu and a dinner menu?
