Magic Kingdom to begin test on Disney Dine on the Go

Honestly, I'm concerned that this is going to impact our trip by making those participating CS restaurants longer waits......

Gift cards are the same as cash. They can very easily be spent on something instead of food.

Many parents want their children to actually eat while at the park.

Without turning this into a debate on parenting methods, I think the teen years are a good time to test independence and responsibility. If my 15 year old chose to buy a widget instead of food, she lived with the consequence of not eating until dinner.

Darn it, when I read the title, I was hoping this was like the old AK picnic lunches--a real grab and go. Walk up to a kiosk, scan MB, get food, and go. Food and snack lines were the worst part of our Thanksgiving week trip.
Me too! While I didn't ever get those at AK I did enjoy grab and go meals out in DL. The food was quite fresh and healthy too, grilled chicken, veggies, etc.

Seems like Disney is testing out various meal options...this and the current promo where you get 1 QS meal per day when staying at a value resort. I don't really think either of these is a good value (nor do I think any dining plan is a good value), but I'm interested to see what they come up with next.

Can you get water for free? I have always used snack credits or paid.

A cup of water (tap/filtered whatever it is in Florida) is free. Bottled you have to pay for.
Filtered, from the soda machines at QS locations is NOT tap water. In FL there is a significant difference

I was thinking the same thing with "on the go" in the title ... if that was the set-up, where you get a bag and can pick your items and have a separate checkout line then I could see some advantages - but as is, really seems to just be targeting the person that doesn't check prices, etc. and just wants something set/paid ahead of time

Looking at the 2017 plan details the quick service meals do not include dessert - just the same as this: Entree and non-alcoholic drink

Well, well, well... Isn't that interesting.

BUT... did anyone see you can sub your drink for a snack eligible item?

So, if you ask for tap water and just add in your own flavoring you COULD have a main, a side/dessert, and a drink

They dropped the dessert, but they added a snack, and there's the drink/snack sub, so it's really a wash. I actually prefer it, because we don't need to eat a dessert with every meal, and we drink water most of the time.
