Magic Kingdom to begin test on Disney Dine on the Go

Looks like you would have to weigh out each persons meals to determine if its really worth the price. I think on the service it goes back TwoMisfits thoughts about them losing money on the water drinkers.

I think it is more likely a way for DIsney to entice people to eat onsite. On the surface it looks like a savings is guaranteed, so a casual visitor might buy it assuming they will save and they need to eat anyway. This plan seems geared towards the daily offsite visitor who might be more likely to eat before they enter the park, may or may not have lunch, and then who hits the road and has dinner at Steak and Shake.

If we look at the plans and discounts DIsney is throwing out lately, it seems that they are truly one to boost in park or onsite dining, or those who stay in their resorts, but need to capture some money from those who do not. I bet their CS inpark restaurants were the first to suffer when they began the constant increases in price of food.

Although it makes no sense to me I see the appeal to Disney. This is to be in line with the "local" theme parks and other direct competitors so Disney feels easier to the family that may show up, stays off site (thus not eligible for dinning plan), and will buy something off of a perceived but not proven value. So the group coming to Disney who are use to their local park will have no problem paying $30 for 2 adult meals and 15 for 2 kids deals.

I don't think this is for most people on this board who plan ahead. However, to the casual 1-day guest who hasn't planned their day as carefully, it's a suggestive sell that tries to get them to do some planning when they buy their ticket.

I agree this is exactly for the 1 day guest that is inexperienced. It's a sell they'll try and get with the tickets saying if they purchase this they can save on their food.

I'm at work so I'm not checking actual costs but if everyone ordered a slushie for their drink, it would drive up the cost of the meal...not sure if its enough to justify the plan but if its something you normally do, it might help with value.

Pecos Bill would be the better value for this. Most expensive items is the taco burger at $15.99 drink at $3.29: that's $38.56 for both meals
Columbia Harbour House's Lobster Roll is $13.99 that would be $34.56 for both meals
Cosmic Ray's chicken/pulled pork combo is $15.99...I guess it depends what you eat

Depending on price I might consider this when visiting with friends for the day that are in town. doubt it'll be cheaper than 2 meals with ap discount (or tiw)

This is too limited for me, regardless of value.

I'm going in August on a "magical deal" so meal plan isn't an option. I normally love the dining plan, so this daily plan is something I'd consider.

But with these few restaurants, I can't guarantee that in the week, I'd eat one QS lunch and one QS dinner at these specific locations. I'm a super planner, but with a few exceptions (BOG, hotel food court) we pick our QS meals on the fly based on locationand mood. Limiting me to these few MK QS options is a no-go for me.

Darn it, when I read the title, I was hoping this was like the old AK picnic lunches--a real grab and go. Walk up to a kiosk, scan MB, get food, and go. Food and snack lines were the worst part of our Thanksgiving week trip.
I still have and use my reusable green picnic in the park bag :)

watch for all these locations to increase their entree costs $2-3 in the next few weeks to make this plan have more "value" - you know it's coming,
The history of all the dining plans/"free dining" vs. OOP dining. Overall, HUGE price increases and severe dumbing down of the overall dining experience over past years.

I hope that they don't dumb down CHH in some way. It wouldn't surprise me though.

This looks worthless.

When I was there in October, I was surprised that CHH no longer offered chicken nuggets by themselves. It was a fish & chicken entrée. I ended up ordering the children's chicken nuggets, saved some money.

We got the steak at ABC Commissary, it was $17.49 but my friend & I shared it, along with a cupcake. That by itself though would be a good choice for this plan.

It says it has to be used within 14 days, my question is do both have to be used on the same day? Could you do lunch one day and dinner another day?

Would have more value if they at least included an all day soft drink kind of program.....

The regular price of the QS DDP for a day is $44. But for that you also get a snack and the resort mug.

So they take away the last two items and drop the price $14.

I don't get why anyone would bother.
I had no idea the QS DDP was that much, but then this might make sense if someone likes the idea of prepaying meals. The $14 you are saving are 2 ice creams and a soda in the park. Or 4 sodas, or almost three ice creams. So, if someone is willing to allocate $44/day to QS, this plan might be a better fit. I know that, for us, a mug that is only valid at a resort is practically worthless.
