We planned to go to Disney April 28- May 3rd. Anyway, I was on their website and it says the Magic Kingdom park closes at 7 pm on most of the nights! I think like 2 nights it was open til 10pm. Anyway, I'm really bummed about it. I only selected that time period because we know for sure that my husband will be back from deployment by that date AND my sons have one day scheduled off as a teacher day so I figured we could add the weekend plus that day and a few others so they would not miss to much school. Anyway, I called Disney and the representative said that they are expecting lower crowds that weekend so that is why the park is scheduled to close early. Even if that is true I think they should at least stay open til 9. Oh well....

Oh and the other parks close early too.

We go to WDW every year during Value Season & MK closes at 6 or 7 pm every night that we're there, except for the weekends. When the crowds are this low, you really don't have any trouble getting everything done by 7 at the parks.

Epcot is always open until 9 pm in order for Illuminations to start at 9 pm - we end up going to Epcot almost nightly during Value Season to relax & finish off our days. I'm sure your family will still have a great trip & Disney may adjust the hours between now & then, too. :) Enjoy spending time with your DH after his deployment! :teeth:

Hey Allboyz,

We are in the same boat too. I actually moved our dates b/c we wanted to avoid Mother's Day weekend (thought it would be really crowded). Two weeks after I rearranged our flight plans we found out that the last weekend in April and the first weekend in May were "Grad Nights". They are closing both Magic and Animal early (7-8 is what I have read on different sources) because of the preparation for the incoming hoards of students. Egad!!!

Anyway, plan on spending time at Epcot or MGM. We are planning on seeing Fantasmic one night and watching fireworks at Epcot the next.

They are closing both MK and AK early on Friday and Saturday.

Oh well, it is one thing or another. :)

Ohhhhh so that is why it is closing so early. Oh well...Thanks for the Epcot and MGM ideas...Oh and I "think" Animal Kingdom is actually closing at 5 pm. I will double-check that though.

THanks for the info! I guess we will just make the best of it. :)

The parks always close early on expected low attendance days....the times are changed, when they feel the need to, so make sure you check the calendars every month...they change quite often! I hope they stay open longer for your vacation, and if they don't you'll still have a great time!!!!! Think of it this way.....you get to spend more alone time with DH and DC, and that should be fun! You can go to the pools, play games, go to DD and get ice cream sundaes! Don't get upset....think positive!

I hope you and yours have a very magical vacation!

Thanks. It is just that I was hit with two things back to back. Last night I found out that Shades of Green no longer participates with the extra magical hours program. Then I found out the parks close earlier than I thought. ugh. We will make the best of it though. We really need this time together as a family to just have fun. :-) Thanks again!

The MK is closing early for Grad Nights on 4/28 & 4/29. It is open until 10 pm on 4/30 (with evening EMH), closes at 10 on 5/1 and at 9pm on 5/2. We've been there in April/early May 3 times and Grad Nights always fell on the weekends during those stays. We've never found it to interfere with our ability to enjoy the parks.
