Magic Kingdom Bathrooms?

Please forgive me if this is not the right forum for this; I wasn't quite sure where this question belonged.

Are the Magic Kingdom bathrooms all full-sized toilets, or do they have smaller ones for pre-schoolers? Also, how clean are they? Are there a reasonable number of toilets for the number of visitors, or are the lines really long?

Thanks for any insights!

Haha! Yes, the bathrooms that I have seen are full-size although the usually have the dual level sinks for the kids and adults. They are usually fairly clean. Disney, IMO, does a fairly good job at staying on top of such things. But, there's a lot of traffic. Depending on the bathroom location you choose, you may have to wait in line. I've never waited more than 3 or 4 minutes. I would suggest using the restrooms before major events like fireworks or parades... they have a tendency to fill up as the majority of the park goes back to other things at the end of the event.

They make smaller toilets? For pre-schoolers? Never heard of that before! :rotfl:

WDW bathrooms are usually very clean. I think I've heard of one unclean bathroom on this board, never seen one in person. MK bathrooms are kind of 'hidden' in the architecture - so use the park map to find them. I've also never had to wait in a line to use a restroom there, except for the one near Peter Pan's Flight.

Hi! We went last October with my 3yr old DD...the only problem we had was all the toilets are automatic flush, and they always seemed to flush while she was on the potty. Needless to say, she was terrified of the potty and never wanted to use it. I dont know how sensitve your little one is, but prepare her/him before you go. We never had a problem with not finding a bathroom or a long wait at all.

Have a great trip!!

Karen

I don't think we have ever waited in a line at any of the bathrooms. After awhile you tend to know where the least crowded ones are. And they are cleaner than most bathrooms you will find. But, as someone else has said, they are auto flush.....sure does make taking the little ones to the 'potty' an interesting experience. Hold your hand over the red sensor light and it should be fine.

Keep in mind that most (if not all) of the restaurants have rest rooms. We ate at Columbia Harbor House back in June and went upstairs as recommended here on the Dis. It is so peaceful and nice upstairs while you can hear the noise from downstairs. Most people don't know you can go upstairs. Anyway, after our meal we found the rest rooms up there. Very quiet and clean.
As noted, the rest rooms are kind of hidden. When you exit Splash Mountain and go past the shop where the drop pictures are shown there are rest rooms when you turn left. These are normally quiet since they are out of the way. We have only experienced busy rest rooms when they are in an obvious place like one in Epcot outside Innoventions across from Test Track.

There are some preschool sized ones at our Community Center in the preschool room. No lie... they are maybe a foot off the ground. Was very odd to see for the first time... :)

Also - we like the family bathrooms. I can take both kids in the big room, lock the door and we have room to maneuver around. My son is 7, but I still take him with me to the bathroom (DH is not a patient bathroom assister), and at that age, it is better for us to do the family bathroom.

On the mini-potties - all of the day care facilities in our area have them, as do the family bathrooms in the mall. My sister is installing one in the one of the bathrooms in her new home. As inexpensive as toilets are, she can replace it in 5 years or so and make her life so much easier for those 5 years.

Thanks so much for the suggestions, everyone! This gives me a good idea what to expect. I like the tip about blocking the red light to keep the automatic potties from flushing. I have never tried that, but now I will.

I will also definitely try to get my 3-year-old to use the potties at the full-service restaurants, though you know how 3-year-olds are: they don't always respond to our very reasonable points about how we are near a clean potty with a short line NOW....

A few random thoughts.....the only time we have had to wait, and I just remembered this, was at the ladies room in LTT!! It's up a narrow flight of stairs and is very small.
Also, we try to use the restrooms once every two hours. My dd, now 12, is so used to doing it this way that it's second nature when we are in WDW. Even if we don't feel the 'urge' we stop. It's much nicer than standing in a long attraction line, hopping around, feeling the 'urge' badly!!!! Been there, done that!!!
