Magic Kingdom and Night of Joy crowds

Does the evening concert Night of Joy affect the daytime Magic Kingdom crowds much???

We were there for NOJ for 2004. (But we didn't go to NOJ, it was just when we planned to go.) It was also between Hurricanes Frances and Ivan. We went to MK on Friday and the crowds were super light. Every ride had either 5 minute waits or walk ons with the exception of Space Mountain mid-day (about 20 minutes) and Peter Pans Flight (20 minutes mid-day.)
