Is it wise to do MK and MVMCP both on the same day?
We're celebrating my mom's bday on the 8th Dec and we plan to do it at MK.. since we are already there we thought of staying for MVMCP as well (already bought a ticket for this).

If not, what would you recommend for us to do morning til 4pm on the MVMCP day? We are 3 adults, have a car and are staying at Hilton Grand I-drive (if that info helps).

how long is your trip? what else are you doing? if you have the time, i might sleep in late and NOT go to a park that day. Why waste a park ticket when you can enter at 4pm with your MVMCP ticket?
sleep late, have a TS meal and look at the holiday decorations at some of the resorts, or shop in DTD

Thanks for your suggestion! We'll be there from the afternoon of 7Dec til lunch time of 13Dec. We planned to do the 4 parks and spend the rest of the week shopping and touring other parts of the city. It will all be our first time to visit WDW so we'd like to make the most of it.

Im just worried that MVMCP might not be enough for us due to the crowd so doing MK in the morning might be necessary? Oh well, let's wait for what others have to say... thanks again!

i would still go do another full day at MK, if that is what you are asking. can you do DHS on your MCMVP day? seems like DHS would take less time to do and save a full day for MK

I agree, I would do either DHS or AK and do another full day at MK. We've been to MNSSHP a couple of times, and on the advice of a work colleague did not go to MK the same day as our ticket for the party. He and his family did MK and then went to the party and felt they had wasted one of their park days. It has worked out well for us. This year we went the day we arrived, but prior to this year we went to DHS, early dinner and then off to the party.

You can easily complete AK in half a day. That would be my choice. DHS you have to play around the times of certain shows and can make for a long day depending on what you what to see. Then I would take a full day and go back to the MK or go to the MK on the day before. That way you will know some of the things you want to do again or didn't get to.

Thanks for the suggestions above! :thumbsup2... i like the idea of doing AK and MVMCP on the same day, it will be our first time to visit AK though so that will be something i have to think about... :confused3:

If you get to the AK when it opens, you can easily be finished by 5:00pm. The only draw back is that you will be doing a lot of walking. Be sure to use the fastpass system for the Mt. Everest and do the Safari very first thing and the rest just falls into place. I would highly recommend The Lion King Show and Nemo. Both are broadway type shows so make allowances for them if you like that kind of shows. They only play at certain times of the day. Nemo is much easier to get into late (larger arena) than Lion King. ;)

whats mvmcp

I would not go to the MK if you already have tickets for the evening. There are many other things you could do. Maybe go hang out at the Marketplace.

Just a fyi, you will still use a "park day" from your tickets to enter the Magic Kingdom for MVMCP, your party ticket only allows you to stay for the party...silly, isin't it??

i dont think that is correct, is it?

MVMCP doesnt count as a day on your base tickets if you enter at 7 (or4) using the mvmcp ticket.

That's a long day in MK. I think I'd start at another park, then go to the party at 4:00. I'd recommend DHS - it's a "half-day" park for me.

I would go to another park for most of the day, usally they will let you in on the MVMCP ticket around 4pm or 5pm.

thanks everyone, i think we will go for AK until 4pm then MVMCP after... i just hope we wouldnt be too tired from all the walking at AK and still enjoy at the party...

im so excited, this will be our first time for both parks! :)

AK really is a LOT of walking. We've hit 10 miles when we do that park, so even if you don't stay all day, you still will be tired. We haven't done the MVMCP yet, but we've gone to the Halloween party a few times and I assume it's similar. It's a great experience, especially if you're perky enough to stay until closing (a lot of people leave after the parade/fireworks). Why not sleep late, then go check out some of the fabulous Christmas decorations in a few hotels, or go to Downtown Disney?

We didn't use a park ticket at all for the MVMCP day. We went around to the monorail resorts to look at Christmas decorations. That way we were close to the MK. We also visited Downtown Disney that day and came back to our resort and swam in the pool. I would save your regular park ticket for a day you can devote fully to a park. With a limited crowd you can pretty much fit in all the rides you want with the MVMCP ticket with little or no lines. We went on 11/17. You can see pics in my trip report in the link below my signature.

I'm going with a friend who is keeping most of the plans a surprise, but I do know that the day of MVMCP, we are doing tea at the GF - I'm very excited about that. I think we also have a late breakfast planned, but again, not really privvy to all the details.:goodvibes

This is not correct. Your MVMCP ticket INCLUDES park admission. Buying that ticket gets you into MK for the party, no additional ticket needed.

I have to agree that AK is a a lot of walking, I would try to do DHS that day if you really want to do a park. But as other said, that is a great day to go to DTD and shop or visit the Gingerbread and decorations at the other resorts. If you stay at the party until it closes that is a very long day. While you may be fine that day, going from early morning to late night, you will feel it the next day and the next and the next!

We have found that we really like to alternate a late night event with a late morning or no park day.

You also said you wanted to visit other places in Orlando so that would also be a good thing to do on that day.

Have fun!
